Idiocracy -- another bleak, but funny look at the future. Like Cuaron's "Children of Men" it's more about situations of today rather than pure science-fiction. Pretty hysterical as well. I think it's Judge's best work (then again, I didn't really think "Office Space" was as spectacular spectacular as people say). The cheesy effects only enhance the movie. B+.

The Illusionist -- comparisons to "The Prestige" are abound to happen since they're both concern the same subject matter. But "The Prestige" explores more of how the tricks come to be and how the magicians attempt to outdo their rivals. This one has a magician whose tricks astoud everyone and infuriate Prince Leopold for some reason. The acting's fine and the cinematography -- making it look like a vintage movie. The ending though seems to be too much and too convienent and nearly anticlimatic, almost making me say, "Of all the ways to end the movie it had to be that way." B.
The Superman Returns Making of Documentary -- I forgot the actual title of the documentary but since it's nearly 3 hours long I'm considering it. You can see that these guys are passionate about the project and having a fun time doing it. Bryan Singer's all the hotter just being the geeky guy that he is. Wished it would've gone into the postproduction aspects more...what with the editing and the music but still it's enjoyable. Well...if you liked the movie. The Kevin Spacey part is the best. B+.

BILLY MADISON (1995) Not one laugh. 1/10 Didn't laugh when Adam said "that girl should be out looking for her fucking dog" scene? Flight of the Phoenix (2004) (Blu-Ray) HD Video - 7/10 HD Audio dts - 8/10 The transfer is inconsistent. Lets see, grain, digital noise, compression artifacts, softness in picture, yada yada. The dts mix is loud, unfortunate they encoded the disc 4.1 Center channel?, we don't need no stupid center channel! Alright not that bad, but it isn't anywhere close to the other channels audible output so you basically need remote in hand to balance the mix yourself.

Primeval
The commercials made it seem like some kind of fucked up serial killer movie. I walked in expecting to see another slasher flick inspired by Ed Gein. Imagine my disappointment when I learned it was about a fucking crocodile. And it seems they couldn't stick with THAT storyline, either, because it kept cutting away to this Civil war in Africa. There was more of THAT than there was of the crocodile. And then they threw in some political statements and shit, and that really pissed me off. That's not what I went in to see. Plus, the CGI crocodile looked really fake and the screenwriting was just pitiful. I don't mind political statements here and there, but this movie did more harm for their cause than good. Save your money. Rent Jaws. D-

BILLY MADISON (1995) Not one laugh. 1/10 Didn't laugh when Adam said "that girl should be out looking for her fucking dog" scene? Okay, I chuckled there. Should I change my vote? Probably not. It really sucked and based on his "script writing" and "acting" in this movie, Adam Sandler is really lucky to even have a film career. But I made up for it by watching: IN AMERICA (2002) An Irish family illegally immigrates to the United States so the father can try to make it in theater in New York. Along the way, they befriend a reclusive artist who lives in their building. Touching film with strong performances by all the leads. 7.5/10

Dreamgirls
This was the best musical in the last four years. And you KNOW how much I talked up the Phantom of the Opera and Rent. Everyone pretty much kicked ass in this movie (in terms of singing... that Jennifer Hudson chick is fucking fantastic). They hype might hurt it a little bit, but it lived up to my expectations. If you like musicals, you'll love this movie. A

Saw III- It is the weakest film in the series however I still enjoyed it very much. Lynn was the most likeable character in the Saw franchise. The final payoff was good, but I felt that Jigsaw should've had more screen time. B+.

DAY OF THE DEAD (1985)
For some reason this reminded me of an 80's John Carpenter film, ie: THE THING or ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. Could've used more zombie attacks prior to the last half hour. My least favorite in the series.
5/10
LAND OF THE DEAD (2005)
Whereas DAY reminded me of a Carpenter film, this one felt more like a James Cameron movie, ala ALIENS. Romero has heightened the action & effects, cast better actors and given us the living vs the dead on a more epic scale. Not a classic like NIGHT and DAWN, but good fun.
7/10
