The Good Shepherd- The critics were way off with this one. While there are a few plot holes and the sound quality is terrible, there is great acting from Damon than Jolie and I loved the plot. Some people might find it hard to understand but minus a few parts I always knew what was going on. De Niro is definately not the best director but he did do something right: he spaces out each scene so that the whole story is told. Yes, he takes his time, and that's a good thing. A.
Deja Vu- A solid, fun actioner from Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckhemier. I can picture Michael Crichton liking this movie, because it seems like something he would've wrote. B+.

An Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder - Kevin Smith is my fucking hero. In four hours, the man answered maybe fifteen questions, but man, are his long-winded answers worth it or what? Still need to see the first one.
Jackass: Number Two - Yeah, I totally contributed to the ritualistic killing of my brain cells. And I enjoyed every fucking minute of it. B+
Night at the Museum - This was entertaining and fun to watch. It's by no means a classic, and let's face it, the premise is fucking ridiculous, but it's still pretty damn funny, and it's nice to see Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Roonie in another movie. B
The Black Dahlia - Okay, upon second viewing, I will retract my A+. But by God, this is still getting an A. Because while the film wasn't perfect, I still can't see what everyone's problem was with it. This is still on my top ten for the year.

ROCKY BALBOA (2006)
Easily the best and least cartoony of the ROCKY sequels. It also avoids the "plot" of the previous ROCKY sequels: "Rocky loses a fight, he's unsure if he's got what it takes, Adrian puts him down and then tries to reassure him that he can do it, there's an inspirational training montage and then Rocky beats the opponent." Storywise, it's essentially a retelling of the first ROCKY movie, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't move me. Stallone brings depth and heart back to the saga of the ultimate underdog and gives us some great closure. Lots of nice references and nods to the original film and some moving performances. The equivalent of a chick flick for guys. Also, I have to add, Stallone is 60 and still looks like he could kick most people's asses. The guy's in amazing shape.

I saw this one: great begining (I even liked the CGI) but then it goes down deep. Last film I saw is Kevin S. Tenney's Tick-Tock - surprisingly good, with many twists you just can't predict no matter how huge your IQ is. Great fun.

Central Station- The best road trip movie ever made. I mean, I consider it a road trip movie. A+.

Which Central Station did you watch? The Spanish one or the Brazilian one?
Raiders of the Lost Ark -- best car chase ever. Best shootout ever. Best foot chase ever. Best guy riding a submarine scene ever. Best pillaging scene ever. In fact, this is probably the best adventure film of all time. Everything about it is perfect, from the direction to the acting to the visuals, to the pacing. It's so well done that even though I've seen it three gazillion times it still stops your heart and makes you sit on the edge of your seat. A+

Pan's Labyrinth - This was one freaky-ass movie. One review called it a fairy tale for adults. That is not the case. It is a fairy tale for CHILDREN within a war movie for adults. And disturbing as those fairy tale sequences were, it was a very interesting look at the innocence of a child during a very dark time. I should point out that four of us went, and I was the only one who liked it. So obviously, this is not going to be everyone's cup of tea. But I fell in love with it. Wanna know if you'll like it? Think David Lynch meets Walt Disney. A

Chungking Express- While exploring 1990's Hong Kong, Wong Kar-Wai makes one of the best love stories of all time. A+.
Charlotte's Web- A lacking adaptation of the book, but very cute, the crows are funny, Wilbur is adorable, and Julia Roberts becomes Charlotte, with a soothing voice and cheery disposition. A good holiday movie (but the holidays are over). B.

THE BREED (2001)
Lame, straight to video vampire silliness on the Sci-Fi Channel.

SUPERMAN II: THE RICHARD DONNER CUT (1980/2006)
Great to finally get to see this. Would've been even better if Donner had been able to finish the film back then, but this cut gives us a really big peek at what might've been. Darker with less camp than the Richard Lester version. A great new opening, all of the Brando footage is back in, and all of the silly powers on display between Superman and the Kryptonians during their final battle in the Fortress of Solitude are gone. One scene from the Lester version I did miss however is when Zod and company first arrive at the small town and all the mayhem they cause before the military arrives, including Ursula arm wrestling one of the locals.
SPOILERS!
Two beefs: 1. They used the spin the world backwards in time ending again. According to the extras on the dvd, when Donner was filming SUPERMAN I & II simultaneously, the "spin the earth" ending was originally planned for Part II, somewhere along the way they decided to hurry up and finish SUPERMAN I, use the "spin the earth" ending there, and they would come up with a different ending for part II later. So, while I get that this is the way it was always intended to be, it's kind of a bummer, because now if you watch Donner's SUPERMAN and his cut of SUPERMAN II, they essentially end the same way. For the record, I was never a big fan of Richard Lester's "kiss of amnesia" ending for SUPERMAN II either. 2. Clark still goes back and teaches the bully in the diner a lesson at the end. If he spun the earth backwards in time, as far back as even before the three Kryptonian villains escaped from the Phantom Zone, then basically, the whole movie never happened, including the scene where the bully originally beats up Clark. So essentially, Clark is beating up a guy who should have no idea who Clark is, or why he's getting beaten. While a real crowd pleaser in the Richard Lester version, it just doesn't make sense to include it in the Donner version. If they'd used the amnesia kiss ending, then they could still include the final bully scene, because now only Lois has forgotten the events of the film, not the entire planet.
Overall, I'd say that this version has it's good points and bad points and so does the Lester version. Is one better than the other? I think that if Donner had been able to finish the film with his vision from the beginning, and not have to use any of Lester's film for continuity, his would clearly be the better film. Lester filled it with too many campy and jokey moments and this was clearly not Donner's vision for the film.
