So, this is a thing that is kinda popular on another board I go to and I thought I'd bring it here. Basically, you list any movie that you just watched on DVD or at the theater. You know, before you go off and write something major on the Review Hell board. Something short, sweet so we can see what everyone else is watching.
So, I guess I'll start it off with the two movies I watched today:
William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet (***/**** directed by Baz Luhrmann. Hip version of Shakespeare, great visuals by Luhrmann, who really knows how to make something look cool and interesting concept. The prologue, which is like a trailer for the movie in the movie, is totally wicked).
A. I. Artificial Intelligence (****/**** directed by Steven Spielberg. A lot of people hate this movie but there are some who love it as well. I'm in the latter category. Spielberg commands visuals, characters, and story better than anyone else. I mean, story and characters are always his major focus so it's very compelling. Brilliant performance by Haley Joel Osment. Christ, I love this movie).

Today I watched; ER: Complete Season 3 - Disc 4 which included these four episodes; Fortune's Fools, Whose Appy Now?, The Long Way Around, & Faith. This show in general (for some strange reason) is real hard for me to get into, but once I finished watching the first 4 episodes of the 3rd season, I was immediately hooked & now can't wait to watch the last 6 episodes. Shortly after, I put in the Special Edition dvd - Kinsey. Basically, its the life of a man who wants to study sex scientifically by doing an almost worldwide sex survey which he created. On the jacket of the dvd case is written, Lets Talk About Sex. That about sums up the entire film. I thought the film was very well written & the direction was excellent. The film had full frontal nudity & graphic pics, in other words, no boundries were present at all with the subject matter. I felt that this was kinda risky for the studio (20th Century Searchlight Fox) to do, but hey this is a new millennia. Overall, not a bad flick.. 2 hours of sex talk though can get tiresome. 2/4 stars

I've just watched Guinea Pig 2. A Japanese production. It was a real hardcore. A movie showing in detail in a documentary fashion the abduction and dismemberment of a young pretty girl. The man doing this speaks like a poet while doing the cutting & chopping. It looked so real that it was even the subject of FBI investigation when it was released in US. Horror 10/10 Makeup 10/10 Scenography 10/10 Acting 9/10 Blood & flying guts 15/10

Last night I watched Batman (1989) again. Before that, I saw an advanced screening of The Island (2005), which was really awesome.

Most recently watched: 1) In a theater - REVENGE OF THE SITH for the third time, but this time it was in a digital theater. Beautiful picture & sound! 2) On DVD - TEAM AMERICA (Uncensored) and the wife and I are making our way through Season 1 of "Wonder Woman". Bad 70's tv at it's jiggly best.

Watched Be Cool last night. I thought it was ok, but not nearly as good as Get Shorty, of course. Vince Vaughn & Rock were hysterical, and Cedric & Andre 3000 were pretty funny too. Although I love both Travolta & Uma Thurman, I thought their performances were kinda typical, nothing very inspiring there. And I thought there were a bit too many PF inspirations to their scenes. But overall it was pretty entertaining.

Yesterday watched Team America: World Police - Unrated 2/4 stars
I also watched all the different featurettes on this disc. Whoa.. all that work to make a silly action puppet film.
Can't think of anything to watch today. Suggestions?

Not my kind of horror for what I know. Recently watched: Larry Clark's Bully. Man this guy has courage! A dark and entertaining, though sometimes over-the-top, piece.

Sunday night I watched the teen sex comedy, "THE GIRL NEXT DOOR". Cute, nothing special, though Tim Olyphant of DREAMCATCHER and the HBO series "DEADWOOD", was pretty funny as a porn producer. Monday night we watched Part 1 of the new Spielberg produced mini-series, "INTO THE WEST" on TNT. Excellent! Can't wait to see Part 2. Right after we watched THE COOLER with William H. Macy & Alec Baldwin. Pretty good character study and interesting subject matter.

American Splendor - Excellent movie. Paul Giamatti was great as usual. It reminded me of Ghost World. But it was a really well-made, nicely-directed sleeper. I loved it.
