The start of "Headhunter" does get a bit bogged down in Police computer procedures...but it picks up and has some great moments.

I started to read Headhunter and am really digging it. I actually like all that police stuff and already it's pretty gruesome.

Hopefully I'll be getting my copy soon...the person I got it from on Amazon put the wrong zip code on it so now she has to re-mail it... Anyway, I like all that police stuff too (hence my affinity for CSI & all those kind of shows...) so I'm lookin forward to it!

I finished Headhunter today & wow, that's all I have to say! This one had me guessing until the end & I didn't figure it out. I couldn't read fast enough to get to the end & find out who it was. Usually I have it figured out by half way through. I like it a lot better than Death's Door and I can say I'm truly a Slade fan now & can't wait to read more!! How are you doing w/ it Phoenix? Eager to hear your thoughts!!

Glad you enjoyed it. "Ghoul" is the next one, and that has some great moments and is VERY clever.
The "Headhunter" case returns in a later book as well.
And yes, the earlier novels are much better than "Death's Door" and the like.

Eager to hear your thoughts!! Hey! I finished about a week ago and I loved it. The ending was a bit of a shocker for me - I'm not used to that anymore. Like you said LDG, I usually have it all put together before the end. I enjoyed all of the characters and their intricate pasts and demons. VERY VERY cool. Lots of surprising deaths in there too which isn't the norm in most thrillers today. I'm now converted as well and I plan on ordering the next book off amazon today. I want to read them in order like you all recommended.

Yeah, I'm def. going to read the others...I think they will keep me on my toes & keep me guessing unlike most of the other stuff I read. Like Phoenix I'm gonna hit Amazon & order up some more!!

I enjoyed all of the characters and their intricate pasts and demons. VERY VERY cool. Lots of surprising deaths in there too which isn't the norm in most thrillers today. Yes, the development of ALL the characters was great! In most books you usually just focus on the main one or two characters & the rest is just background..but in this one all the characters were given attention too & you really wanted to find out more about all of them...and then you found out stuff about them maybe you really didn't wanna know. As far as the deaths, I found myself going 'OMG' after most of them. Especially one in particular....I think most here have read it, but I won't say which one so I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't read. But I was thinking, how could they do that after what this other character has already been through. You can probably figure out which one I'm talking about. This is the first book in a LONnnggg time that has affected me as far as giving me the creeps. About a quarter of the way through it I had to stop reading it right before I went to bed b/c it gave me nightmares & I'd wake up in the middle of the night just to make sure the doors were locked.
