Loved the Pink Floyd visual joke! Anybody else catch that? 8.5/10 Yeah the pig. And not just the pig, but they recreated the entire "ANIMALS" album cover. Very cool.

Letters from Iwo Jima
The better of Clint Eastwood's Iwo Jima films. It leaves a much stronger impact. While Flags of Our Fathers left us walking out saying: "Well, it was GOOD... but that was a LOT like Saving Private Ryan", Letters from Iwo Jima was different. Clint Eastwood boldly offers us a different perspective of the war, and for a brief moment pulls us away from our ethnocentrism. Even though these were soldiers fighting in a war against the U.S., you can't help but feel compassion for them. So, I guess Eastwood has done it again. A+
I think what Eastwood did with these two films was phenomenal. They were an insightful look at the brutality of war, and a reminder that people who fight and die in these wars are human beings, with people in their lives who care about them. On both sides. I think that was quite an achievement.

The Sting (1973)
HD Video - 8/10 HD Audio Dolby Digital Plus - 8/10
The Mummy Returns (2001)
HD Video - 10/10 HD Audio Dolby Digital Plus - 10/10
Well, didn't quite make a reference rating imo. The transfer is flawless, unfortunately the film contains frequent soft spots which is clearly a source issue. All the desert scenes & battle scenes have that three dimenionsal wow factor appeal. There is no visible grain, dust, noise throughout the entire runtime. Color is excellent as well. The color palette on the heavy CGI scenes just pop off the screen. The audio on this disc is killer. In fact it is so good that if I didn't know the disc specs I could of sworn it was TrueHD. Alas, the Dolby Plus mix is very aggressive without drowning out the dilaog, surrounds are active a lot & you are enveloped in a nice 360 soundfield. I just don't have anything negative to say about this soundtrack..

BULLITT (1968) The story drags a bit, but it does feature two great action sequences. A foot chase in an airport, including the runway, and of course, the car chase that all future car chases would be measured by. And oh yeah, Steve McQueen at his coolest. 6.5/10 AT MIDNIGHT I'LL TAKE YOUR SOUL (1964) Gravedigger, Coffin Joe runs around denouncing religion, killing folks and, oh yeah, trying to find a woman to bear him a son. Even psychos need love. Interesting cult horror flick from Brazil, though it does get a little long and some of the effects during the climax do leave a bit to be desired. It's a low budget flick so I guess it should get a pass in the cheesey effects department. Because it's subtitled and the performances are really "stagey", it almost feels like a silent film. Fun if you don't take it too seriously. Part of a series and I've already got the next one saved on my DVR. 5.5/10

More violence, more nudity, more torture, more Ze do Caixao (but without as much offense to Catholics who toned him down) The Unborn-Dull, boring pregnancy scare horror film. imdb.com/title/tt0103157/usercomments-13This Night, I'll Possess Your Corpse-That other Coffin Joe film that's even better and more entertaining than the first one. imdb.com/title/tt0060380/usercomments-15

Gallipoli (1981)
Great Peter Weir/Mel Gibson flick, beautifully shot and cinematically poignant. But doesn't that ending just piss you off? A

Psycho
My third favorite movie of all time. Of course, I speak of the original 1960 Hitchcock film, as there WAS no remake. A+
Shaun of the Dead
God, I love this film. A+
Smokin' Aces
This wasn't great, but it was pretty damn good. The style is just a bit overdone (although in terms of stylistic overkill, Natural Born Killers and Domino are much, much worse), and the characters are almost impossible to relate to or even feel much sympathy for (due to lack of development, not so much the actors who were all very good), but this is just too much fun to pass up. Cool dialogue, cool action sequences... this is just a cool movie. If you can look past the slight overuse of style, you'll enjoy it. B

The Prestige- Boy, this one's a mouthful. There's just so many ways to interpret this excellent film. I loved the great story which had plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing till the very last frame. A-.

Catch and Release
I was expecting it to be more than just a romantic comedy, and it was... just a romantic comedy. It's not without its moments, but it's pretty average. I'll say one thing, though. My hero Kevin Smith walks away with this fucking picture. Every scene he's in is pretty much his scene, and it's awesome. He should act more often. It's not a bad movie at all, it's just pretty average. C+
Singin' in the Rain
Do I REALLY have to comment on this classic? A+
