Live Free or Die Hard - I'd have to say the only major complaint I had about this movie was the title. Because that's just a really corny title. But other than that, good freakin' movie. Real fun to watch, and remains as satisfying as its predecessors. 8/10 I caught this over the weekend. Besides the fact that 1/4 of the screen was cut off (they "couldn't fix it" and there was nothing else playing at that time. didn't even get a refund! f***ers) I thought it was really a silly movie. Nothing makes sense whatsoever (NOTHING!) which is okay too I guess. I should have checked my brain at the door big time. One thing that really bothered me is that you could tell that parts were dubbed out (as in the sound doesn't match the lips) to make it the PG-13. Originally they definitely were cursing and they very OBVIOUSLY took it out. That really bothered me. I don't mind the no-cursing but, you know, you should have filmed it like that. Plus, alot of the action felt recycled from other movies. (Plane scene? True Lies. Man jumping wildly around? Casino Royale.). The best sequence was in the tunnel, and you see that on the preview. So blah, 3/10 for me. Don't recommend. I should have expected less. AND to get back at the movie theater for being such assholes we snuck into KNOCKED UP. It was pretty good, a nice chaser to Die Hard.

But to each their own, I guess. The Big Lebowski - The Dude abides. 10/10

Yea, I may have had more fun if I wasn't so pissed off about the screen.
And I have never seen The Big Lebowski - I am going to add it to my netflix this week.

Transformers - Won't rate it or talk about it, because Quorth called dibs on it. Get on it, Quorthon! I wish to discuss it.

The Matrix with Rifftrax
I love the Matrix, and in no way would I consider it MST3K-worthy... but this made a hilarious track nonetheless.

THE HAUNTING (1999)
Having recently watched the original version of THE HAUNTING, I decided to revisit this remake when it aired on HBO a couple of nights ago. Unfortunately, my opinion of it has not changed. Cons: A prety good cast, Lili Taylor, Liam Neeson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, are wasted. They try hard, but the movie undermines them. After relying mostly on spooky sounds to set the atmosphere for a lot of its running time, just like the original, the movie turns into a CGI crapfest for the last 30 minutes. Pros: Owen Wilson is decapitated, so it's not all bad.
Like an episode of Scooby-Doo with adults. I'm not the biggest fan of the original, but its still better than this.
4/10
CRY WOLF (2005)
A movie that's not nearly as clever as it thinks it is. We figured out the plot twists about half way through the movie. Not good. The most surprising thing on-screen was when we both asked, "Is that Jon Bon Jovi??".
4.5/10

Transformers - Won't rate it or talk about it, because Quorth called dibs on it. Get on it, Quorthon! I wish to discuss it. TRANSFORMERS 2007 I miss Lion's version of the classic TF theme. Aside from that, I think Lion was probably just another unoriginal crap Heavy Metal band. Review's up.

Pulp Fiction (Quentin Tarantino) -- you know...it may be enjoyable but this is extremley overrated...the technical aspects of it are clunky and awkwards (see the edits and a lot of the framing) and it takes them forever to say they went to France or are going to rob a resturant, and the whole Wolf sequence could've been easily cut -- he doesn't serve a real purpose -- and everything they need to figure out could've been figured out with a rewrite. Despite all this, it's kinda fun to watch, though it doesn't really age well either. B-.

Transformers (2007)Theatrical Video - 4/10 Theatrical Audio - 8/10 Lack of detail for a better word. Lots of noise, grain. Contrast issues, blacks just plain suck. For the entire run-time, looked almost as good as a DVD upconverted. I have the full AVC trailer downloaded on my PS3 & it blows this theatrical mess right out of the water! Audio is much better but didn't blow me away. Dialog is crisp, but not clear. LFE barely made an impact at all throughout & surrounds didn't engulf the soundstage. Knocked Up (2007)Theatrical Video - 5/10 Theatrical Audio - 9/10 Mostly all front heavy (no complaint) this track is excellent. Only musical #'s didn't make good use of surrounds. Video looked quite sharp throughout, yet again I was treated to what looks like a SD DVD at best. Close-up shots were fairly good, passable. Contrast fluctuated throughout which is distracting. Fine detail on objects is completely lost. WoW, havn't missed a thing it seems. Last theatrical show was SW3 2 years ago. Thank god for HD on VIDEO. Btw, I actually enjoyed Knocked Up better than Transformers. If your half a fan of 40-Year-Old Virgin, then you should get plently O laughs. Kodak Digital Video Dolby Digital
