As mentioned in the Movie Police thread, I saw Deliverance.
I tried to watch The Science of Sleep but it was so horrible, French, and boring that I immediate turned it off.

28 Weeks Later...
To state the obvious, I would have enjoyed it better if it were directed by Danny Boyle. Generally speaking, I get uncomfortable when a series is handed to a different director. But the movie was actually very good. The only real complaint I have about this film would be the last 15 seconds, which only exists to beat it into the audience that there IS going to be a third movie. On one hand, bring it on - this one was awesome. On the other hand, seriously, we really didn't need that scene. 8/10

PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM (1972)
Woody allen plays a writer/film critic who is dumped by his wife and then has to try dating again for the first time in years. Let's just say the man is not a player. He's such a film nerd that Humphrey Bogart pops up from time to time to give him advice, subconciously of course. The idea is cute and maybe back in '72 it seemed fresh, but after years of seeing Allen play this neurotic type of character, this one bored me a little. There are some hilarious moments though with Allen trying to be smooth in front of potential girlfriends and failing miserably.
5/10

I think sometimes a different perspective for the series is pretty neat and besides, Boyle went on to do "Sunshine" which I'm eagerly anticipating.

Of course, there ARE exceptions to every rule. Star Wars and the Bourne movies are two such exceptions.

True Dat! Double True!!
Amadeus (Milos Forman) -- completley captivating with a clock counting in at three hours, but never a boring or dull moment, excellent performances, superb sets, sublime photography, exquiste music, just an all around great movie. A.

Apocalypse Now (Francis Ford Coppola) -- the last great movie Coppola ever made...in fact, probably the last good movie in gerneral that actually has some quality coming from Mr. Godfather. Pyschologically stirring, visually nauseating, and an all around brilliant picture, probably the 2nd or 3rd greatest war movie ever made. Personally, I prefer the original to the Redux, which tended to drag with its extra scenes that really didn't contribute anything. A-.

GET... OUUUUUUUUUT! Just kidding. But seriously, Psycho '98 was the SAME EXACT MOVIE as Psycho '60, except in color and with a scene where Norman masturbates to Marion undressing. That's pretty much it. Gus Van Sant is a fantastic film director (see Good Will Hunting and My Own Private Idaho), but this film was just one of those movies like... why would you make that? We already HAVE one. And more than that, he's no Hitchcock. Was it a poorly made movie? Not in the least. But there really was no reason to make it. What I would LIKE to see is a stage version of Psycho. That would be sweet!

I watched a really cheesy movie called Buried Alive (1990) starring Tim Matheson. I think originally it was a made for TV film. Kind of entertaining in a MST3K kind of way.

Collateral (Michael Mann) -- one of those thrillers that explores our place in the universe, why people do the things they do, and that existential stuff. At the same time, it's a really good movie with one of Cruise's and Foxx's best performances. Funny thing, after years of seeing it already, this is the first time I noticed the quick little zooms quite prevelant. Annoying but WEIRD. B+.
