Zodiac -- while marketed to look like Fincher returned to "Se7en" territory, it's really more of Fincher doing "All the President's Men" than anything he's done previously. It's still very good and fascinating, the usual stuff you'd expect from him. B+.

Zodiac- I feel this is Fincher's masterpiece. Yes, better than Fight Club and Se7en. At first I wasn't sure if it was going to be that good, but as it went along, it got much, much better. It does, however, feel like a four hour long movie. But at least Fincher got in all he wanted. Great acting and cinematography. Music was a little bizzare at times though. A-.

Ghost Rider - OTT, cheesy, brilliant. A comic adaption that's stayed true to the heart and soul of the comic. Not for everyones taste, but it's not meant to be

THE LITTLE MERMAID (1989)
Disney adaptation of the classic Hans Christian Anderson story about the mermaid who wishes she were human so she can be with the human prince she's fallen in love with. That fairy tale was also the basis for SPLASH, starring Tom Hanks and Darryl Hannah. Quite simply, THE LITTLE MERMAID is one of Disney's best animated films and is often overlooked as being the "comeback" movie for Disney, who had just gone through a ten year slump. Before MERMAID, they had a string of animated films that only did so-so or aren't quite as revered, like OLIVER & COMPANY, THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE and THE BLACK CAULDRON as well as a few expensive live-action failures like THE BLACK HOLE and RETURN TO OZ. After MERMAID, Disney were on a roll for a few years, ie: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, ALADDIN, THE LION KING, etc.
This one's perfect. The animation is traditional and beautiful. The characters, from Ariel the mermaid to Ursula the Sea Witch, and every supporting character in between, are all great. Which brings me to the score. In this film, every song is catchy and memorable. There really isn't a clunker in the bunch, unlike a lot of later animated films. Almost everybody still remembers at least a few lines from "Under The Sea". I couldn't sing a verse from any of Randy Newman's last couple of Pixar songs if you put a gun to my head. Anyway, don't the let the "animation is only for little kids" stigma stop you. This is one for kids "of all ages".
10/10

"PWND" is gamer slang for "owned". Usually used on the player that loses. Ahh, grassoppa...I see Wild Hogs 2/4- Pretty funny, enjoyed it more than I thought I would

Citizen Kane - Just like everyone says it is, a great American classic. A+
The Hidden Fortress - As of now, my third favorite Kurosawa flick (behind Yojimbo and Seven Samurai). It was fun finding all the influences this film had on Star Wars, and the story was great too. A+

Bridge to Terabithia
Clear cut case of expecting one thing and getting something else. Something BETTER. The trailers don't do the film any kind of justice whatsoever. I walked in half-expecting another fantasy-book-only-turned-film-because-of-the-success-of-Lord-of-the-Rings. Imagine my surprise when I walked out. I was caught completely off-guard. I got something in my eye a couple times... um... yeah... Great film. I know, I've said this twice already but bear with me - it's only the beginning: Best of 2007 thus far. A
I should also mention, AnnaSophia Robb and Josh Hutcherson are wonderful actors and both have great careers ahead of them.

Don't know how busy you are and all, but if you have time, you want to stretch this or another movie into a fully-fledged review for the section? We need to get some more in there. The Woods-Creepy when it needs to be, but a startling case of deja-vu and a really labored first half make this only a passing effort. imdb.com/title/tt0380066/usercomments-47Faust: Love of the Damned-A gory, full-on comic book spectacle that only suffers from some moments of inherent stupidity. imdb.com/title/tt0223268/usercomments-65And The Devil's Rejects, which will get it's own review thread.

I was angry when I saw the trailers because that was one of the books I grew up on and I thought, "They've turned it into a fantasy?" I've heard since what really happens though I still haven't seen the movie.
