The Great Dictator- Chaplin wonderfully combines a hilarious spoof of the Nazis and a serious story of the hatred they brought. His second best film. A+.

Reservoir Dogs (1992) (Blu-Ray)
HD Video - 8/10 HD Audio Dolby Digital - 8/10 HD Audio dts - 9/10
At first glance this disc looks like reference material but that quickly changes throughout the course of the film. Interior shots have slight grain & noise. I noticed a bit of macro & some edge enhancement as well. Colors really pop & there is a fine level of consistency with the Video transfer. The dts atmosphere is a hint better than the Dolby mix. Randomly switching between the two, I found dialog sounded a bit more crisp with Dolby even though the audible output between the two soundtracks are nearly identical. Surrounds are not that active nor should they be for this flick. Was a bit disappointed with the LFE. A much better release from Lionsgate & a definite upgrade for fans.

Amazing Grace
Dethrones Breach as the best movie of 2007. Ioan Gruffud is stunning, if you don't mind the cliche. And so is Albert Finney. The entire cast, actually, was brilliant. Excellent costumes, sets, make-up, direction... it's a compelling period piece that's definitely worth a look. A

I guess you don't play video games. Never mind. Anyways: Abscence of Malice- A good Pollack flick, but not classic material. The ending was very good. The movie however is brought down by mediocre music. B+.

The Broadway Melody (of 1929)
Has anyone else seen this? I'm interested in knowing what others thought about this. I mean, is it enough to start another controversial movies poll? Because I just might. Anyway, this is the second movie to win the Oscar for Best Picture, and today it's more of a piece of history than it is a film. As a film, it did not stand the test of time as well as one might have hoped. But it does bear some historical significance, such as the transition to sound and its contribution to the classic musical that would follow 23 years later, "Singin' in the Rain". So what do you think? Should I put up a controversial movies poll for this? (My grade: B- for the film, A- for significance to film)

Beerfest (2006) (HD DVD) HD Video - 9/10 HD Audio Dolby Digital Plus - 10/10 Vertical Limit (2000) (Blu-Ray) HD Video - 9/10 HD Audio Dolby Digital - 8/10 HD Audio LPCM - 10/10 Vertical Limit looks like a 10. Aside from a few rough patches & maybe 5 seconds of softness, this disc is something else. 1.85:1 & MPEG-2 & an LPCM track & over 2 hours, this flick must have pushed beyond 25GB. Thankfully Sony used a BD-50 disc for this title cause I seriously doubt the level of consistency with both picture & sound would of been this good otherwise. The LPCM track didn't blow me away, however I couldn't find anything wrong with it neither.. hence the 10 rating. If you are at all a fan of this flick, you won't be disappointed with this transfer.

I just want to say that I personally found it hilarious that Zap posted that the latest film he'd seen was THE BROADWAY MELODY and he then went on to discuss its significance in film history and how important it is and all that, and then in the very next post Term posted that he'd just seen BEERFEST. I don't why, but that just seemed funny to me.
Oh, and no, I don't think I've ever seen BROADWAY MELODY. Or BEERFEST. ;D

"PWND" is gamer slang for "owned". Usually used on the player that loses.
Not sure why I know that. I must spend a lot of time on the internet.
