MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III
The best of the series IMHO. Pretty much wall-to-wall action. A really good popcorn film.
Trivia: Look for the actor who plays Matt, the thoughtreading cop on HEROES, in a bit part during the engagement party scene at the beginning of the film.

Shocker-Not that bad, but could've used a little more explanations for it's events. imdb.com/title/tt0098320/usercomments-49Bats-Fun 50's throwback to the creature feature age, but a couple of real logic lapses harm it from being as good as it could've been. imdb.com/title/tt0200469/usercomments-143Godzilla 1985-Why it has a bad rep I don't know, it delivers everything you want in such a film, monster action and lots of it. imdb.com/title/tt0087344/usercomments-41Godzilla vs. Biollante-Really, really impressive entry in the series, in the top 10 all-time easily. imdb.com/title/tt0097444/usercomments-33Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla-Just like Biollante, a great entry that is easily in the upper echelons of the series. imdb.com/title/tt0107027/usercomments-26Gamera vs. Viras-As a kiddie monster movie, it's a lot of fun, but watch it as an adult and you'll find yourself bored through most of it. imdb.com/title/tt0063000/usercomments-19Rebirth of Mothra 3-Does the kiddie monster approach a little better, as at least the action is passable for adults. And, by the way, King Ghidorah has never, ever looked any better. imdb.com/title/tt0189764/usercomments-13

Entrapment (1999) (Blu-Ray) HD Video - 8/10 HD Audio dts - 9/10 Finally, a fox catalog title that looks more HD than SD. The video does look flat though with minor specs of dirt & minimal artifacting. Color is vibrant with very little noise to speak of. The dts audio (I am finding on most 20th Century titles) is near perfect for this type of film. I felt the audio sounded "dated" & lacks that nice 360 soundfield I'm used to hearing with LPCM tracks. I'm sure once there are receivers out there that have built-in dts-HD decoders, these Fox titles should sound perfect. The Devil's Rejects (2005) (Blu-Ray) HD Video - 9/10 HD Audio Dolby Digital - 9/10 HD Audio dts - 8/10 I hate intentional grain. That be said, it works quite well for this type of flick. Distinguishing what is & what is not intentional film grain in HD is much more easily done than standard-def. So occasionally, I saw some impressive three dimensional looking images, but not many. Blacks were solid during dim-light scenes & excellent color all around, especially during daylight exteriors. For the most part, I was impressed by the consistency of the picture quality. I guess the real shocker with this transfer isn't the video but the audio. I found that the dolby digital track produced clearer vocals, heavier LFE than the dts track. Even audible output was mixed louder. Switching between the 2 tracks during random scenes, I found the surrounds were on par with each soundtrack. The "Reject's Road" scene was worth the purchase alone. Good stuff.

SUPERMAN RETURNS (2006)
The cons: At two and a half hours it could use some editing. Too many plotholes or not clearly answered questions, plus several inconsistencies with the first two Christopher Reeve movies, which this is an unofficial sequel to.
The pros: Brandon Routh is a great successor to Reeve and the effects are the best we've ever seen in a Superman film. Lots of nice nods and homages to the Reeve films, starting with the John Williams theme and opening credits.
Not a major dissapointment, but I'm hoping the next one is even better.
7.5/10

Epic Movie - Christ, this movie give the phrase "utter shit" a bad name. Aful acting, awful directing...in fact the only good thing in this movie? I really don't know, answers on a postcard. I only went to see this to kill time...in retrospect I want that time back.
Avoid at all costs.

High Fidelity
A funny, intelligent romantic comedy. John Cusack and Jack Black were awesome. B+
Mean Streets
A great breakthrough picture for Scorsese. Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel are excellent, and Scorsese's direction was brilliant even in the early days of his career. A+

Minority Report -- great ideas and great action, all put together, something that you hardly see any longer. Add an ending that asks if its real or if its a dream, great Spielberg action-sequences, and a pre-weird (no pun intended) Tom Cruise. Yeah, it's great, even after watching it for the 42nd time. A+.

Reno 911!: Miami
If you like the TV show, you'll like the movie. It's like an hour-long episode with cussing, boobies and celebrity cameos. I thought it could have been funnier, but it's still pretty good. B

The Number 23 - Above average thriller with a great performance by Jim Carey. Slightly too stylish in some places lacking substance. Though it may have been the point. Hmmmm
The Science of Sleep - Hilarious and so incredibly sweet. Michel Gondry directs with a childlike innocence that leaves you with a smile on your face from start to finish.

Hmmmm You are much nicer than I was about this. I found it way below average. Also saw via Netflix: The Descent - GREAT horror, recommended by my girlfriends. It's cool because it's all women in the film and they're not all wearing boobie outfits. Plus, it's very creepy. I jumped several times. Dogtown & The Z Boys - Great documentary about the history of skateboarding. Snakes on a Plane - very, very silly.
