X-MEN 2 (2003)
Slightly better than the original. Bigger budget, more characters, grander scale. Can't wait to see part 3.
8.5/10

Like Heineken I watched X-Men last night to get ready for X:Last Stand. It was fun! I'm leaving work early to see the 3 o'clock show...

X-Men: The Last Stand--I'm sure someone's going to review it here and I'll go in-depth about how Brett Ratner is a total hack of a filmmaker (though thanks to the "Rush Hour" movies, is all right at making action sequences). I liked the climax, but everything else was...retarded. Everything Bryan Singer made great about the first two films is gone, where we now get mind-numbing action over the ideas that permeated through the first two. They're still there, but not as important or subtley approached as this one. C-.
I cannot wait even more for "Superman Returns". Which, is coming out in IMAX 3D here!

Well, I scored it much higher than Pulp. The one thing that did bother me quite a bit was what actually happens in the movie.
Giving the final chapter to Brett Ratner was their second biggest mistake. Their biggest mistake was making this the final chapter.

X-Men: The Last Stand- A good, farfetched end to the trilogy, but the Juggernaut screaming his famous lines made the movie.
Dreamcatcher- Rushed and sloppily executed. It also wasn't the ideal choice for a book to adapt. It has its moments, though.

Blood Simple.--of all the Coen Brothers movies I've seen this is my least favorite. Of course, I stopped giving it my full attention about three quarters through. Still. C+.
The Princess Bride--watching some cousins who've never seen this. Figured they'd like because it's hard to find someone who doesn't.
The DaVinci Code--Ebert was right when he called this "preposterously entertaining." The Bible nor anyone are really clear about Jesus's personal life, so theories are always fascinating. Ron Howard, I'll give him this, can assemble a great cast. It works way better here than it did as a book. B.

I have much different opinions of "The Board" for the popular movies out.
X-Men 3: Thought it was great fun. 8/10 for me. A lot of "stuff" happens and in the end it all works out. I'm sad that so many people are trashing it. As a long term comic book fan I think it was a nice addition to the franchise and not "hacked" by Ratner. I would take this over half the crap they are putting out nowadays - at least it was entertaining and the action was very very cool.
Da Vinci Code: YAWN. Very disappointed in this flick. NOT as entertaining as the novel, with lots of slow pacing and most of the best elements from the book are omitted IMO. I would say there is NO NEED to see this on the big screen. The action is very minimal and it's mostly a "talking" flick - totally should have waited for DVD. I feel guilty about paying the just raised movie ticket prices at our theater. The majority of the critics were right - I thought they were influenced by the Church, but in the end I think the movie panders to the religious way too much. BOOOO. 5/10

I have much different opinions of "The Board" for the popular movies out. Well, I only liked DA VINCI CODE a little more than you did, 7/10, and I'm gonna check out X-MEN 3 tomorrow. Looking forward to it. In the meantime, last night we finished: Wonder Woman - Season 2- Disc 4 (Linda Carter was physically a perfect Wonder Woman, but the series was pretty lame.)

Watched last night:
THE PIANIST (2002)
Terrific movie with a great performance by Adrien Brody, who pretty much carries the whole film as he's in just about every scene.
8/10

All you people with your modern popular movies!
I watched "Slaughterhouse-Five" on On-Demand the other night. Sorta like 21 Grams but weirder. Maybe I'll do a review. It's from the 70's.
