The Japanese horror movie Vortex - I enjoyed it but my copy had horribly translated subtitles. If you like Japanese horror though, a must see.

Thai supernatural drama "Omen", surprisingly good considering it stars a Thai boy band!! But don't let that fact fool you, it's good, serious stuff. More "Starsky and Hutch" season 2 episodes.

I was in the mood for classic 1950's film noir, so I picked up The Night of the Hunter (1955). That was some pretty creepy stuff! Excellent movie.

Today;
Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason 2/4 stars
This was a 49 cent deal with CH. On par with the original, I guess. Some funny scenes, but man does Renee Zelweigher look heavy! I hope it was just for that part, I mean seriously what happened? She was a babe in Me, Myself & Irene.
Apollo 13: IMAX Cut 3/4 stars
Visually groundbreaking. dts Soundtrack that rocks!! Another CH deal. I choose this one even though I already own the Collector's Edition to see what the deal is with IMAX-DvD. Even though parts of the film are cut out, I didn't miss them & the new 1.66:1 aspect ratio didn't hurt the overall theatrical feel to the film.

The weird but enjoyable mix of "Road Trip", "TCM", "Jeeper's Creepers", "Duel" and "Clerks", "Monster Man"

Shark Tale 2/4 stars
Not as bad as I thought it would be. Its no Shrek, but the computer anime is excellent throughout.
The Woodsman 3/4 stars
Wow, glad I bought this one. Kevin Bacon gives an Oscar performace. Havn't seen him in an "Oscar" type role sinse Murder in the First.
Birth (2004) 2/4 stars
Hmm.. The story about reincarnation. (sp?) The what if you were reborn & wanted to reunite with your loved one.. even if your 30 years younger. I guess the acting was average throughout the entire cast, including Nicole Kidman. The idea of the plot kept me interested throughout though too much Downer-Drama.
Ooo look, I'm rating films now. ;D

A mixed bag indeed.... Finished off Season 2 of "Starsky and Hutch". Vintage, Blaxsploitation/Martial Arts trash in the topless form of "T.N.T. Jackson" - Fun, but some bad, bad fights! The ever excellent "Ginger Snaps".

This was one of the first movies I have ever seen on my newly bought VHS player back in the eighties. Ahh, these were the days... Then again, I was rather bored by the film itself, Klaus Kinski or not...

The Phantom of the Opera 4 stars
Brilliant from start to finish. I'm not a fan of the genre, but damn, hats off to Joel for bringing this to the screen. Sets, costumes, make-up, acting, choreography. This films screams talent at its best!

A Roger Corman stinker from the 60's, the tedious Sci-Fi slop called "THE LAST WOMAN ON EARTH"
After a long build-up of nothingness the Earth loses it's oxygen for a while and everyone suffocates except 3 boring people (2 men and 1 woman, hence the title) who were scuba diving at the time.
ONE good scene of a child's body, lying like she's asleep with her arm over her face, on the roadside which is rather creepy, otherwise it's one long arguement about the obvious moral and social problems the situation raises and a dull lust triangle sub-plot for the remaining 50 minutes or so. Written by future "Chinatown" scribe Robert Towne of all people. *SNOOZE*.
