Big Trouble--funnier if seen as a companion piece to Barry's brilliant book.
X-Men--one of the best superhero films ever. Bryan Singer forever!
Seven--I was talking to Frankenjohn about this one and was like, "I'm gonna watch it too!" So there's no strange coincidence. Great movie. Even after repeated viewings I get wrapped in it. And now that I'm a lot less desenitized than I used to be it's a lor more gruesome. Love it.

Just watched Terminator 2, special "Extreme DVD" that's 16 minutes longer. And Shrek. Had I not read the "Last DVD You Bought" thread first, Q, My reaction would've been WTF? Now, meh. Love that version of the movie. My recommendation flick for people wanting to know what a DVD can look like and sound like, and then the extras are second to none. A constant pick in my player. I decided to bust out a classic: the original, and good, version of The Fog.

Blue Velvet- A surreal, fabulous David Lynch film with excellent performances by Kyle Maclaighlin, Dennis Hopper, Laura Dern, and Dean Stockwell.

The Purple Rose of Cairo- I can see why this's Allen's favorite film of his.
Manhattan Murder Mystery- See it if you like Allen films and/or murder mysteries.

Extreme Version is good, (better picture quality) but the Ultimate Edition has all 3 cuts of the film via seamless branching & Dts sound. The extra's on the Ultimate blow away the Extreme Version but is missing the James Cameron commentary. Off to watch more Chappelle Show.

My Extreme Ed was on sale for $7.50 at Target. Couldn't say no.

WILD THINGS (1998)
Good trashy fun. Murder, sex, deception. A guilty pleasure I hadn't seen in a couple of years. 6.5/10

Ultimate Edition? What the hell? My Extreme Ed was on sale for $7.50 at Target. Couldn't say no. That is the latest release of T2 & I don't know if the Ulimate is still available. There were 3 releases of T2 on dvd in the States & Canada. I obviously bought them all as each one was released. The first was a bare-bones release from Artisan, than the second release was the Ultimate (flipper) disc. One side, the film with 3 versions, the other side, a shit load of extras. One day I took a look at all the extra's on that disc & by day I mean it almost took a day to literly see everything on it. The third release & current one is the Extreme version with a slightly shorter film length, but way better picture quality. Not bad sound either, but I prefer Dts. Also, finally got to hear Cameron's take on the film which is the only reason I bought the Extreme Edition.

A guilty pleasure I hadn't seen in a couple of years. 6.5/10 I watched that for the first time a couple weeks ago and was plenty disappointed, myself. But what do I know? This is the shit I just watched: The Hidden 2 The Island of Dr. Moreau

Well, as you see, I only gave it a 6.5 myself. Like I said, just a guilty pleasure. It's not a great film by any stretch of the imagination. Which version of Dr. Moreau did you just see?
Just watched last night:
ELEPHANT (2003)
Pretty good experimental film by Gus Van Sant, featuring a Columbine High School-style shooting. Almost had a documentary feel to it. Not enough time spent with any of the characters for me to really feel anything about anyone though. 6.5/10
SIDEWAYS (2004)
Liked this one a lot. Like he was in AMERICAN SPLENDOR, Paul Giamatti was brilliant. Does anybody play a loser shlub as well as this guy? And man, I could practically taste all that wine through my tv screen. 8.5/10
