Toolbox Murders: remake of an obscure video nasty and a return to form for Tobe Hooper. It may be silly here and there but has enough suspense and creepiness to be recommended. Also, let's not forget it stars the great Angela Bettis. I'm gonna watch this soon, as part of Showtime's horror celebration this month. Is it worth it to sit through? The original was alright, but certainly didn't deserve the Video Nasty title it held, at least to me.

So I shall, Bart. I trust your judgement. After all, without you, I wouldn't be here.

Crimes and Misdemeanors- The best Woody Allen film so far. It even comes with a moral (The good get punished too).

The Wild Bunch- 42ndStreet's review made me wanna check this out. It ruled. Glad you liked it. The whole finale (and it's lead up) is still truly amazing. Troma's gloriously sick and entertaining "Terror Firmer" on the UK Horror Channel.

I love the finale.
Night of the Creeps- One of the best B-horror-movie spoofs ever!
Blowup- Weird, but compelling and very good.

slayrrr: Hooper's remake of The Toolbox Murders is, according to most, better than the original film; I haven't seen the old version but the new one really is quite good - without getting anywhere near perfection, though, so don't get your hopes TOO high. Good to see Hooper can still make entertaining films - after The Mangler and Crocodile some people thought he lost it completely (then again - I must admit to enjoying The Mangler... well...).
As for The Wild Bunch: I remember liking 42nd's review, too; still haven't re-watched the movie, however, cause it's not available here on DVD. Can you imagine?
Just watched: Carrie (2002). Mixed feelings about this.

For some strange reason all the DVD's of "The Wild Bunch" are flipper discs, even the newer releases! "Death Dimension" - Jim Kelly? Aldo Ray? George Lazenby? and 'Odd Job'? All in an Al Adamson Kung Fu action movie about a bomb that freezes people? How can that mixture do anything BUT entertain? I love the 70's.....

DR. STRANGELOVE OR HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND THE LOVE THE BOMB
I saw it at midnight because a local theater shows older movies at midnight on Fridays. That's right! I saw it on the BIG SCREEN! It was an older print so there were scratches and hairlines everywhere, which added to the experience I guess. And you just notice so much more on something so big. This movie gets funnier and funnier with each viewing.
Seriously, I was the only one who laughed at the end..."MIEN FUHRER! I CAN WALK!!"
We'll meet again/ Don't know where/ Don't know when/ All I know is we'll meet again some sunny day.

CARLITO'S WAY (1993)
Brian De Palma & Al Pacino of SCARFACE, reteamed for this story of a Puerto Rican ex-con recently released from prison, but in the words of Pacino's character in GODFATHER III, "Everytime I try to get out, they pull me back in again." Very strong performances by Pacino & an almost unrecognizable Sean Penn as his cokehead lawyer. The story only drags a little when Pacino is trying to patch things up with his ex-girlfriend (Penelope Ann Miller). Look for early performances by Viggo Mortensen & John Leguizamo. 8/10

Highlander- There can only be one...classic film in the series and this is it!
Two for the Money- Hilarious. It's not a thriller, it's a comedy-drama.
Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit- Funny and charming.
