Saw yesterday: PITCH BLACK (2000)
It was okay. Not scary at all. Better if you've never seen any other "humans stalked by an alien" type movie, ie: ALIEN, ALIENS, THE THING, etc. Good effects, especially the transport crashing and tearing apart. Vin was a pretty good anti-hero ala Snake Plissken. I just never really got caught up in the story too much or really cared about the characters. 6.5/10 Gonna see the sequel next as I already taped it off HBO.

Heineken - a toast for you: finally saw this beloved little film of mine! I expected you'd like it better but well... eh... what can I do? For me it's still better than Alien or Aliens or The Thing.
Last film I saw: Night Watch, Russia's famous Matrix/LOTR/Star Wars-influenced vampire tale. Strange but good and creepy. One to be watched in a theatre.

"Downfall" - Hmmm...Strange how the only subtitled options on the otherwise excellent UK DVD (GREAT DTS sound) are for the hard of hearing, hence stuff like "phone ringing" appearing on the screen and such like.
There was nothing really new here, no great revelations as far as Hitler and the bunker were concerned but the things happening outside the bunker were very interesting as it's not really been shown. Gantz was superb (everyone was excellent actually) and it had wonderful production values and technically it was brilliant. The running time went suprisngly fast as well. It was well paced throughout. I still don't really believe that the secretary new nothing. Not after being Hitlers own private secretary for nearly 3 years. I remember when the superb "World at War" spent months getting her to dpeak for the first time al those years ago.
Looking forward to the extras.

THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK (2004)
Having recently seen PITCH BLACK for the first time, I finally went ahead and saw the sequel, RIDDICK. It was pretty good too. A more interesting story, better effects, a grander scale. (No, that doesn't always make for a better movie, but here it helps.) This time Riddick finds himself against the Necromongers, an invading army who is trying to convert everyone. Kind of like a combination of The Borg on STAR TREK and Scientologists. ;D 6.5/10

CHINATOWN (1974)
My second viewing, but it's probably been about 15 years since I first saw it. Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway are riveting and the meeting between Nicholson and John Huston is still as great as it ever was. Beautiful looking picture too. 7.5/10

GARDEN STATE (2004)
A touching and funny film about an actor going back home to the Garden State (New Jersey) for his mother's funeral after many years. Semi-autobiographical work by writer-director-star Zach Braff of TV's "SCRUBS". Great performance by Natalie Portman as a free spirit he meets. 7.5/10

Recently;
Alone in the Dark 1/4 stars Are We There Yet? 2/4 stars Unleashed 3/4 stars Analyze That 2/4 stars Don't be a Menace to South Central while Drinking your Juice in the Hood 1/4 stars
Also finished watching Chappelle's Show: Season 1. Now I know why this show earned the most money in dvd sales. Previously held by the The Simpsons. This show was aired on Comedy Central & I don't watch networks, but I bet all the nudity & swearing were cut out. This is a no-holds-bar show & even Chappelle often comments during some episodes that he cannot believe he's still on. Take that for what its worth. ;D

Toolbox Murders: remake of an obscure video nasty and a return to form for Tobe Hooper. It may be silly here and there but has enough suspense and creepiness to be recommended. Also, let's not forget it stars the great Angela Bettis.
