The Skeleton Key 2/4- Not bad, but predictable Watched this on cable last night. Since I did hospice I liked it just for the fact it addressed my old profession. Plus, the voodoo (hoodoo) stuff was kind of cool. 6/10 for me. Yeah, I liked the voodoo stuff too. Well, I was going to watch Cold Creek Manor last night but the dvd that Netflix sent had been broken and glued back together so my dvd player spit it back out at me, so needless to say I sent it back.

Yeah, Netflix will do that to ya. Alien - Do I really have to explain why I give this an A+? Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World - The dialogue is hard to follow (but that's a weakness on myself, not the movie). But this is one of the most beautifully shot movies I've ever scene. A great exercise in cinematography. And Russell Crowe, as always, "makin' movies, singin' songs and fightin' round the world..." A-

We watched "Action Jackson" last night starring Carl Weathers.
I'd never seen it before but it was pretty bad.

I liked Action Jackson, it provided exactly that: action by a man named Jackson. A big favorite.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - One of the greatest Westerns of all time, two of the most memorable characters of all time, one of the greatest screenplays of all time... Also a beautifully shot film. Everything about it was perfect. A+

The Maltese Falcon--yes, it's the best detective movie ever made. Down, dirty, rotten, subtley brutal. Some of the greatest delivery of dialouge ever caught on film. Pretty much the inventor of the film noir style. A+.

Man of the Year--it's not what it looks like. The Robin Williams bits are funny but the conspiracy theory thing was annoying and not well done. C+.

Employee of the Month- The plot was entertaining, although cliche and sometimes ridiculous, but the jokes were unfunny and childish. If you thought it looked a little good, wait for the DVD.

WALT DISNEY TREASURES: MICKEY MOUSE IN BLACK & WHITE Disc 1
Collection of every B&W Mickey cartoon, starting with the earliest, STEAMBOAT WILLIE. Interesting to watch the animation get better with each subsequent cartoon.
STAR WARS - EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES (2005)
A couple of steps up from EPISODE I, imho, as it's more action-oriented and not as bogged down in the heavy politics of that previous entry in the series. Some new interesting characters are introduced and there's considerable less screen time for a certain Gungan. "Mesa like!"
8/10
THE ISLAND (2005)
Better than it should be considering how much it, er, "borrows" from other sci-fi efforts, THX-1138, LOGAN'S RUN & 1984, specifically. As usual, the always terrific Steve Buscemi steals every scene he's in. I was a little surprised that Michael Clarke Duncan's role is basically a glorified cameo.
7/10

Suspect Zero - yet another serial killer movie with a "twist" starring Ben Kingsley. It's long, the directing is bad and it has an obviously low indy budget. 3/10
The Lake House-Remake of a Korean film. I'm a sucker for romance and this one was good. Even my husband succumbed to its charm. 8/10
