Lost Season Two Discs Five and Six--whew, I am glad I'm done with that. All caught up ready for Wednesday. Pretty exciting show. Questions are everywhere. It's like the new X-Files (someone said the new Twin Peaks but I don't buy it as much). Let's hope it doesn't pull another X-Files and have the series end with only about HALF the questions answered. A B+ for this season again.

Jackass: Number Two- Balances out with the first one. The first one had more of Pontius and a great ending. The second one had harder laughs but almost no Pontius and a bad ending. Saw Jackass Number Two over the weekend. Agree with your assessment. I did not eat for several hours after watching it though. Just thinking about that pube part makes me physically sick to my stomach.

Gridiron Gang 3/4- Wow....Didn't think it would be THAT good, I was impressed. VERY impressed w/ Rock's performance. Me too. I seriously thought that guy would only be successful in action movies. But he was pretty damn good in Gridiron Gang. Yeah, I agree. Like you said in your first post about it, he showed some emotion besides humor or anger, which for anyone who watched him on WWE or watched any of his other movies is the only emotions you ever saw there. I figure he might could make it in comedy too based on his personae in the WWE. Inside Man 3/4- Good performances. Nice to see Jodie Foster being the bad guy, or woman, I suppose.

NYPD BLUE: Season 2 (Disc 5)
RED EYE (2005)
See my comments in Review Hell, if you care.
6.5/10
LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT (1927)
Silent cult classic starring Lon Chaney (Hunchback of Notre Dame, Phantom of the Opera) and directed by Tod Browning (Freaks, Dracula). The last known remaining print was destroyed in a fire back in the sixties, so the only way to watch this film now is this version reconstructed from still photos, the script and a newly recorded score. As a piece of film history I recommend seeing it, but I found this version only average. If they ever discover another print I would definitely give it another shot though. Chaney's vampire makeup is iconic and even if you've never seen the actual movie, I'm sure you've at least seen photos of him in character.
5/10

You know, frankenjohn, I'm of the opinion that "Lord of War" and "The Weather Man" might've been better movies had they not starred Nicholas Cage. Otherwise, they're pretty much the same movie. Except one Nic Cage is a gun dealer while the other is a weather man.
Just watched "Brick". I love that movie. Whatever grade I gave it in my review.

The Guardian
As I said when I saw the Butterfly Effect, Ashton Kutcher can act! I mean, he has the misfortune of "Dude, Where's My Car" being his first movie, but when put to the test, that guy can act! He had me in tears in one scene. And Kevin Costner, another fine performance. The movie itself was very good. WAY better than that Annapolis crap. It's emotional and action packed, and I recommend it, especially if you liked Ladder 49. B+
The Little Mermaid
I grew up on this movie, and it's equally powerful today. Why can't Disney make movies like this anymore? A+

I know he tends to just "play Cage" recently but I think he was nothing short of great in these two. And The Weather Man really was overlooked.

I love Cage but lately he's been doing bad movies. These were his last two great roles.

I love Nick Cage. I loved the Weather Man AND Lord of War, both of which are highly underappreciated movies.
It's the Wicker Man that really sucked, and trust me, he's not exactly why the movie sucked.
Cinderella - Another childhood favorite, still an uplifting, animated masterpiece. A+

I love the Tremors series. Fun all over the place. All four. And Poltergeist III sucked. I and II were very good though.

Miller's Crossing - An intense, entertaining and thrilling Coen bros. flick. Albert Finney and John Turturro made it for me. A
Employee of the Month - A comedy doesn't work if only two of its characters are funny (especially if one of those characters has a really small part). Dax Shepherd, the poor guy, dares to be funny when no one else is. The other one is Andy Dick (surprisingly), but his part is small. Everyone else? This can totally wait for a rental... maybe even cable. C-
