The Descent - Took WAY too long to get started, but once it did, it was awesome. Wouldn't go as far as to compare it with Alien (which was a thousand times better), but it's still pretty damn good.

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) - An excellent adventure film with fight scenes that remain strong even today. Errol Flynn was awesome, and Olivia de Havilland was great. A+

World Trade Center - This was just beautiful. Every performer gave it their all. Oliver Stone decided to go a more simplistic directorial route as opposed to his stylish ones, which is a good thing, especially in a movie like this. It's very emotional, hard-hitting and in spite of its backdrop, inspiring. It got me in tears several times throughout.
It's easy to be cynical and call it on being made "too soon", but I'm not going to. It's a very relevant (and true) story of Americans coming together in the face of unspeakable evil.
100%
Also watched:
The Patriot (2000) - A very good war movie. Mel Gibson gives a strong performance, and Jason Isaacs is a great actor to play a villain. I love this movie. A
Galaxy Quest (1999) - What's this? A GOOD Tim Allen movie? How did THAT happen? This was a smart, funny satire on Star Trek and hardcore trekkies. Also a fun adventure movie. A-

Necronomicon: Book of the Dead-A real hit-or-miss of Lovecraft's work in this anthology. imdb.com/title/tt0107664/usercomments-46Plus Disc 1 of Animaniacs, Vol. 1, still as hilarious as the day I remember tuning in to see them.

Been away for a little while so some catching up.
On Friday: LADY IN THE WATER (2006)
I'm not exactly sure yet what I thought of this. Was it genius or a complete mess? Still undecided. Paul Giamatti as usual is great and he's the new Richard Dreyfuss. Think about it and you'll see I'm right.
For now I'm gonna give this movie a 6.5/10
On Saturday: MR. AND MRS. SMITH (2005)
Like THE WAR OF THE ROSES, but with high-tech weaponry and none of that former movie's dark wit. Lots of gunfire and explosions. Entertaining, but forgettable. Eye candy and nothing more, but Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie really are the two prettiest actors on the planet.
6/10
On Monday: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE (2005)
'nuff said about this one already.
8/10

Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) - I don't know much about the curse of the odd-numbered Star Treks, but this isn't so much cursed as it was... dated. It's by no means a bad movie, but I'm sure there are better ones in the series. C+

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) - My least favorite Kevin Smith movie because it's the one that takes itself least seriously. Still, hillarious. Good Will Hunting 2 has to be one of the funniest scenes ever. B+

Pulse
This was genuinely creepy. I mean that. Aside from a few flaws and even a major inconsistency at the end, this was actually a pretty solid Horror movie. Could have done without the color scheme, but my friends and I had a good time watching it, and I may even have a little trouble sleeping tonight.

Galaxy Quest (1999) - What's this? A GOOD Tim Allen movie? How did THAT happen? This was a smart, funny satire on Star Trek and hardcore trekkies. Also a fun adventure movie. A- Really underrated flick. Funny and much smarter than people gave it credit for. Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) - I don't know much about the curse of the odd-numbered Star Treks, but this isn't so much cursed as it was... dated. It's by no means a bad movie, but I'm sure there are better ones in the series. C+ Hell, GALAXY QUEST was better. And I have to disagree, I think it is a bad movie. Long, boring, pretentious and overblown. Trust me, there are much better entries in the series. Definitely a case of most of the sequels being better than the original. In fact, the next one, WRATH OF KHAN, is one of the best. Regarding the odd-numbered TREK "curse", it's pretty much true, except for maybe Part 3: THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK, which I think is actually pretty good.
