A Time to Kill - An excellent courtroom drama. A little slow at parts, but it does hold one of my favorite movie monologues of all time, brilliantly delivered by Matthew McConaughey. Underrated, I must say. A-

MALLRATS (1995)
My wife had never seen this one and I'd only seen it once before because it was always my least favorite of Kevin Smith's series of Jersey films. And.... it's still my least favorite. Jason Lee is good, Jay & Silent Bob are entertaining, and the cameo by Stan Lee is pretty funny, but the movie as a whole just never seems to really come together for me.

Hair (1979) - A very good movie musical, but Milos Forman has done better. I am, however, interested in seeing how it is performed on stage. My college might be doing this musical in the spring, and I'm considering auditioning.

My college might be doing this musical in the spring, and I'm considering auditioning. HAIR is a really good stage show and the movie version wasn't bad. If you get cast, are you ready to drop trou on stage, or will your school be doing the "cleaned up" version? Just watched: SCARY MOVIE 3 (2003) Meh. Guess I was expecting more from the director of Airplane, Top Secret, Ruthless People and The Naked Gun. Better than Part 2, but still nothing to rave about. Still have to see Part 4. I guess. Frankly, this whole Scary Movie franchise has been pretty disappointing so far. 5.5/10

Short Cuts--a bit long, some flat characters, but overall pretty good. B.

Miami Vice - Beautifully shot. This movie should be seen at least once, simply to look at it. However, next to X-Men 3, this is the second biggest disappointment of the summer. The story and plot structure were excellent, the actors were good, and the direction was great, but my beef with this movie is the same as my beef with a History of Violence... sort of. The screenplay.
Whereas a History of Violence just had a weak screenplay, Miami Vice has a screenplay that doesn't speak to us at all. Michael Mann is a great writer, but he seemed to forget that his target audience are not cops. I didn't understand a damn thing the characters were saying. I mean, you can figure out what's going on fairly easily, but you can't relate with people who don't speak in terminology you understand. And that, along with the film's marketting, is this movie's biggest downfall.
And I mention marketting, because, well... Would Traffic had done so well if they tried to sell it as an action movie? Miami Vice is similar to Traffic, but Universal is promising Lethal Weapon.

The Ant Bully- Nicholas Cage and Bruce Campbell were awesome. The animation was breathtaking. However, it really wasn't that funny, but it was nice.

The Ant Bully - I agree with frank on this one. This was one cool movie! I mean, even when it's not particularly funny, it's got some great animation and stunning action sequences. Yes, that's right, action sequences. Great voice acting, too.
Although I still have no sympathy for real-life ants, and smash the shit out of them whenever they cross my path.

Cause I want to see it for action...I need to know before I go see it!
