The WarriorsA cult film that our friends insisted we had to watch with them. It was just like I expected...cheesy, silly 80s ridiculousness. It helps to watch after you've had two huge margaritas. ;D Phoenix likes to mix booze with her cult films. She was also drinking while trying to watch ROCKY HORROR.

The Others - One of the greatest twist endings ever, complete with a strong film to support it.

SAW (2004)
Just another SEVEN wannabe. And has Cary Elwes' acting ever been worse? Hated that sudden loud noise & choppy editing combo that the director kept overusing throughout the movie too. It's not scary, it's annoying. And it's only used to hide the fact that there's really not that much going on.
I can suspend disbelief, but one of the main problems I have with movies like this, and THE BONE COLLECTOR, and even SEVEN to an extent, is that we're expected to believe that the killer has gone through all the trouble of setting up these extraordinarily complicated scenarios ahead of time, and then everyone else in the movie has to act exactly as the killer anticipated in order for everything to work exactly according to his fiendish plot. That "twist" ending was a bit much to swallow on top of everything else I'd had to buy already.
I admire the fact that they got this movie done in less than three weeks, but maybe Cary Elwes and the rest of the cast would've been a bit more believable if they could've had time for rehearsals and more takes. Good setup and an interesting idea (seemed like a Stephen King book) but a highly flawed film.
3.5/10

SAW (2004)... ...has Cary Elwes' acting ever been worse? No. No, he hasn't. I was honestly shocked with his performance in this film. Overall it was 4/10 for me - a good, if far-fetched premise, getting worse with each minute.

I personally liked Saw quite a bit... But I agree this was by far Cary Elwes' worst performance. Hence my awarding him the Golden Asshat in '04.

I think it's more complicated than that, Pulp. Yes, the two endings are very similar but the twist itself is quite original.

SHAOLIN SOCCER (2001) Saw the original Chinese version. So funny, an hour later I wanted to watch it again. ;D THE SEVEN SAMURAI meets BEND IT LIKE BEKHAM with a dash of THE BAD NEWS BEARS. It drags a bit in the middle, but overal, pretty hilarious. Loved the Bruce Lee goalie in the yellow and black GAME OF DEATH outfit. (the same one Uma wore in KILL BILL) 8/10

Killer's Kiss- Moody, atmospheric, and suspenseful. Plus it had great lighting.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World - It's a slow movie, somewhat difficult to sit through, but in the end I felt it was a rewarding experience. Beautifully shot and wonderfully acted, but I still felt there were other films in 2003 more deserving of the Best Picture nomination. The Last Samurai for instance.
Little Man - So this is what it's come to? I had so little to do today that I had the time to try out THIS travesty? My God, to say the Wayan's Brothers lost their touch would be to say Hitler was just not a very nice guy. Have they lost their Goddamn minds? Why on Earth did they think they could stretch out a ten-minute Looney Tunes episode into a full-length movie? I mean, I thought White Chicks was bad, at least I chuckled a couple times at White Chicks. I walked out a half hour in. Thank God I didn't pay.
Yeah, the obvious question would be "well, what did you expect?" Please refrain from asking that. I got exactly what I expected, and it's bad enough I sat through the first half hour.
0/10

Superman Returns--this time in IMAX 3D, which was totally wicked. Well, I didn't dig the cornfields for some reason but the plane rescue was spectacular. AND it was louder and with the digital screen it looked amazing. I felt the running time even less this time around. The A still stands.
