I think The Last Temptation of Christ is the best Jesus movie ever. Better than all the DeMille stuff and that Passion crap and everything. Anyways, I just saw A Prarie Home Companion--Funny, sad, and...I don't know...my friend said cute? Quaint? The ending dragged a bit. A-. I still think that "Passion" was better. Giant- A good film that turns into a classic.

A Prairie Home Companion - I laughed. I cried. An intelligent piece of work, a most excellent ensemble cast, and flawless direction by the legendary Robert Altman (not to mention some great music) make this one of the best films of the year.

Hamlet (1990) AKA the Mel Gibson version. If I were to judge on performances alone, this would have been my favorite of the three. Unfortunately, Zeffirelli took one too many liberties with it by cutting things out and moving things around, and it ended up being my least favorite of the three. But this was still a very good movie in its own right.

X3 3/4- More action, less story...but I still loved it. Did anyone else stay until after the credits were over? You know it! It was awesome, right?! Yes, it was! We usually stay til the credits finish anyway, but my mom had taken my nephew to see it when she went to MN & she told us to BE SURE to stay & watch. And I think this is the only "action" movie that's actually made me weepy in couple of places. ;D Watched this weekend: Disc 1 of Tilt & the extras

An Inconvenient Truth
The greatest documentary feature I have ever seen. It's a very insightful, sobering look on global warming. For the love of everything that you hold dear, you MUST watch this movie. This should be required viewing for everyone. And I'm not a liberal, I'm against propaganda, but facts cannot be ignored, and we CAN do something about it. Spread the word: An Inconvenient Truth - THE must-see film of the decade.

NYPD BLUE - Season 2 - Disc 1 (Bye-bye David Caruso. After the fourth episode he left for that fantastic movie career.)

The Hills Have Eyes (remake): whoa, whoa! It's everything Wes Craven's original should have been: tense, gory, well-acted, with great make-up and photography and, most of all, very, very sick! The best new full-length horror film I have seen this year!

CARS (2006)
The visuals and characterizations are dynamic and some of the voice work is really great, Larry the Cable Guy's tow truck character is a scene stealer.
The thing that brings it down a couple of notches is the story, which is a bit routine and familiar: Main character from the big city, ie: lives life in the fast lane, finds himself stranded in a backwater town. The country folk and their small town ways show him what is truly important in life. Remember when this movie was called DOC HOLLYWOOD and starred Michael J. Fox? I do.
Overall I thought it was above average. But even an average Pixar movie is better than the other recent non-Pixar CG animated features I've seen recently like ROBOTS and A FISH TALE, which were both really routine.
Besides, average Pixar is like average pizza or sex. Even when they're just average, they're still pretty good.
7.5/10

Cars - Again. Liked it much better this time around. It wasn't so late, and I was more awake and able to appreciate it. Still inferior to the Incredibles, but I love it.
The Warriors - Come out and plaaaaeeeaaay! Gotta love that.
Romeo + Juliet (The Baz Luhrmann "modern-day" version). Very clever, well-shot adaptation of Shakespeare's classic. The acting was top-notch, and Luhrmann's odd unfamiliar style is refreshing in a manner of speaking.

SUPERMAN II (1980) Hasn't aged as well as the original. (Some of the effects are pretty cheesey considering it was released in '80 and a few of the superpowers are more bizarre than the "flying around the world and reversing time" from the original.) But still, it's a lot of fun and Terence Stamp is a great villain as General Zod. 8/10 Oh yeah, what do you expect, though, from the director of A Hard Day's Night? Fun fun fun!
