"Kickboxer" - Okay for a few cheesy laughs and thrills and the fights are well staged and edited. But the finale fight is weak in emotion as it's just Van Damme getting creamed for the first half, and then just the bad guy getting creamed in the second half...there is no real back and forth 'fighting'. And WHAT were those songs??!! "Never Surrender! Never say die!" "Fight for love"!!! The 80's! Gotta love 'em!

I watched it long ago. As you said mainstream karate flick. Fights of much lower quality than the masterpiece of that genre Enter the Dragon with legendary Bruce Lee. Routine easily guessed action with the usual scheme. Still it was quite entertaining and enjoyable especially if you like Claude Van Damme and crave for martial arts flick from time to time.

I've watched on Saturday/Sunday night together with Bart a classic sci-fi flick Dark Star by James Cameron. One of his first films. F/X are so poor that they're hilarious. The alien was a big beach ball with seams and air valve easily visible. Apart from being a colorful beach ball the alien had two animal looking hands which he used for example to tickle a crew member who was frantically grasping the curb not to fall down the elevator shaft ;D Of course it was calmed down by a gun with sleeping pellets which simply pierced the ball and the man took the gasless thing out. ;D ;D But the dialogues between main computer and bomb computer are genius. My recommendation

Recommendation for Dark Star from me, too! This is John Carpenter at his funniest! The beach ball-alien? For me - a killer! ;D
And let's not forget the second movie on our bill, spacer: Bad Taste was hilarious, wasn't it?

Grabbed "What About Bob?" at Wal-Mart last night and watched it and loved it just as much as when I first saw it. Perhaps more so...
"This is black powder, Bob! A teaspoon is enough to blow up a tree stump!"
"And how much is this?"
"Heh heh, TWENTY POUNDS, Bob."
Ahhhhhh........

"The Getaway" - Pekinpah/McQueen...holds up pretty damn well, good 70's cinema with a nice turn by the ever welcome Al Lettieri.

Red Eye- A taut thriller from Wes Craven.
Halloween II- A fabulous sequel to the classic original.
A Fistful of Dollars- Another one of my all time favorites.
For A Few Dollars More- Good, yet dull.
Kentucky Fried Movie- Another all time favorite. Better than "Airplane!"
Henry and June- Graphic picture on sexuality in 1930's France. Almost like watching a soft core porno, except for the fact that it had some A-list celebs (i.e. Uma Thurman) and an above average plot.

Fritz Lang's classic Metropolis (1927) - without a doubt one of the greatest movies of all time.
