Ok, I just joined Netflix & I've got just about all the new releases on my list that I wanna see. So now I need to get caught up on some older & more obscure (ie not mainstream) horror movies that I haven't seen. Instead of wading through all the ones they have listed on the site I figured some of you around here could give some suggestions about what's worth watching.

Firstly:
Anything you're reported yourself to the Movie Police for!
Your placement of this in the horror section leads me to believe you want horror suggestions, so:
Cronos (1993-Mexico) The Hidden (1987)
Suspect Zero (2004)(was pretty much everything Saw promised to be) Undead (2003-Australia)
That's what I'm going with for right now...

I'm not sure what exactly you can get there... is Italian horror available, for example? If yes - go for some quality stuff by Lucio Fulci (Zombie Flesh Eaters, House By The Cemetery, City Of The Living Dead, The Beyond...) or Dario Argento (Inferno, Suspiria, Trauma...); if you just want English-language stuff, here are some of my favourites:
- It's Alive - The Serpent And The Rainbow - The Last House On The Left - Maniac Cop - Psycho II - Funny Games - Mulholland Dr. - Obsession (by De Palma)
Not all 100% horror but all are at least mightily creepy.

NetFlix supposedly has a pretty good selection.
One of my friends and his ... wife (just married, not use to her being a wife!) signed up. Instantly, they were addicted, going through 3-6 movies a week in a desperate attempt to get the most value possible for their 20 bucks a month. I lent him some movies and he never got to 'em because he had too much stuff from NetFlix to watch. Like it was a second job overseen by a large man with a hood banging a drum.

Firstly: Anything you're reported yourself to the Movie Police for! Well, when it comes to foreign horror films I'll be on the Movie Police firing line. But see, I'm trying to change that so that's why I asked for suggestions! ;D So just be patient & keep giving me ideas. And Suspect Zero is on my list...due to the positive reviews it's gotten around here.

- The Serpent And The Rainbow - The Last House On The Left - Psycho II Seen those...but I'll check out the others that you listed. Thanks! From the few times that I've browsed their lists they seem to have quite a few older movies & foreign horror, so maybe I'll be able to find most of what ya'll have suggested.

I think I'll be able to get my money's worth out of it. I got the $9.99 package where they send 1 at a time. So even if I only watch 2 or 3 a month, which is about all I have time to watch anyway, that's the same or cheaper then what I'd pay at the video store. Plus I told my brother & sister in law that if there was any they wanted to see I would put them on my list. So it definately won't go to waste! Plus, they have the new big screen tv so we'll have our own private little movie theatre. ;D

Anything by Fulci and Argento are top choices, LDG, as well as movies from Mario Bava. If you really want to get a list, try these:
From Argento: Bird with the Crystal Plumage Profondo Rosso (aka Deep Red)
Suspiria Tenebrae The Opera
Two Evil Eyes (with George Romero)
From Fulci:
Zombie 2
House by the Cemetery The Beyond
City of the Living Dead The New York Ripper
From Bava: Black Sunday Black Sabbath Blood and Black Lace Lisa and the Devil Bay of Blood (aka Twitch of the Death Nerve) The Blood Baron
Other notable Italian goodness: Cannibal Holocaust Cemetery Man Demons The Church Stagefright The Killer Must Kill Again Torso (aka Their Bodies Bear Traces of Carnal Violence) Contamination
Those are some of my favorites, but also try any Japanese horror film before 2003 (this is before we bastardized them) for some other good foreign horror choices. Supposedly Thailand has made some good horror films recently, but I've never seen them. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the suggestions slayrrr! I just checked out Netflix & they have a lot of Fulci & Argento movies, everything you listed plus some. I added Suspiria, House by the Cemetery, Two Evil Eyes & The Beyond to start out with. I'll slowly start making my way through everyone's suggestions. ;D I also added Cronos from Q's list. I now have 22 movies in my rental queu so that should keep me busy for awhile.

I'm VERY glad I'll be able to get your thoughts on Fulci's films finally, Livingdeadgirl! House By The Cemetery is one of his best, heavy on atmosphere and lighter on gore than his other stuff from this period (The Beyond, City Of The Living Dead); you'll just have to get over some very bad child acting there, but it's worth it!

Sounds cool. Can't wait to get started on watching them. Good to hear the atmosphere comment you made. Absolutely nothing wrong w/ gore, but nothing really grosses me out anymore, whereas good atmosphere & tension in a movie can still give me the creeps.

I think you'll be surprised at how gory Fulci's films really are, LDG. Some of them are quite powerful.
