I think you'll be surprised at how gory Fulci's films really are, LDG. Some of them are quite powerful. Yes, but The House By The Cemetery is not one of them. I think it's a very good place to start the Fulci adventure.

I didn't care for House by the Cemetary. I'm not exactly sure why, but I didn't like it.

Probably because it's not as gory, Q.
Bart, I was referring to the other Fulci classics (Zombie 2, City of the Living Dead, Beyond) since those are gore-hound delights, but not House by the Cemetery.

Yes, sure, I know - it's all cool. And you're probably right that most Fulci fans don't like House 'cause it's not as gory as his most infamous films. But I still like it a lot and think it's one of his best - actually, every time I watched it I thought it was better. This goddamn thing grows on ya!

Like I said earlier good atmosphere & tension go a long way too.

Well, I finally got around to watching one of the movies from the suggestion list.... Two Evil Eyes. Not too bad... Romero's segment was pretty good, but that damn "dead voice" (don't know how else to explain it, whoever's seen it will know what I'm talking about...) drove me crazy. I heard it in my sleep last night I think. ;D I liked Argento's Black Cat segment better. It's been awhile since I read Poe, so I kinda had to remind myself what the story was about. The effects were pretty cool, the chopped-in-half woman rocked! ;D And it's always good to see a Harvey Keitel performance. He's pretty demented in this one. I couldn't watch the scenes where he was torturing the cat...I have a black cat that looks just like the one in the movie so it kinda disturbed me. The ending was kind of...anti-climatic though. Maybe not so much anti-climatic, but it ends rather abruptly. One minute he's standing at the window hand-cuffed to the dead cop then you blink & their both hanging out the window. I was like That's it? Over all, I enjoyed it...not the kind of stuff I usually watch, but like I said I'm trying to broaden my horizens. ;D I think the next one I have coming up on my rental list is Suspiria. Looking forward to seeing more Argento stuff. I've also moved up to the $14.99 Netflix package so they'll send two movies at a time. That way I can make my way through my list faster. ;D

On a side note: I went through & marked off all the movies I've seen so it'll be easier to browse through here when I"m looking for ideas.

Good job with Netflix, Livingdeadgirl! And you're in for a treat with Suspiria - it's not my personal favourite by Argento but perhaps his most classic film.

I've heard people talk about it, so I'd guessed it was one of the more popular ones. One of those, "gee, everyone talks about it so maybe I should watch it" kind of movies.

I believe so. One of my favorites from the Italian scene.

There's still a wait for Suspiria, so I've got House By The Cemetary coming next.

Good, good. As you could see from the previous posts not all people here like it - but let's see whose side you're going to be on about this.

Just finished watching House By The Cemetary. Thought it was pretty good...lots of blood. ;D And I think you guys said this was one of the less gory ones, so I'm anxious to see some of the other ones. The part where the guy stabs Freudstein & all the maggots come out was pretty gross. I can handle the blood & guts, but crawly things...bleh.
