That's right Bart...another never-ending thread. Just what you need... ;D
I just got Christine, Red Dragon, and To Kill A Mockingbird.

Oh yes, frankenjohn! Thank you very much! ;D
Good choices, by the way - especially Christine. The last one I got is still the Greg Bear's addition to the Star Wars saga - and I'm still waiting for some encouragement to start reading it.

The last one I got was Blood & Gold by Anne Rice..still reading it. It's pretty good so far. It just takes me forever w/ her books b/c they're so descriptive & involved. Red Dragon is excellent!! All three books in that series are very good! Some of my faves.

Even Hannibal's good, livingdeadgirl? I have only read passages from it and... well, reading 'passages' ain't no basis for criticism! So it was good?
And Anne Rice? I thought of putting her into Clash Of The Horror Authors Poll but then decided against it. Do you think she could get some votes there? I haven't read anything by the woman.

Yes, even Hannibal was good. I haven't seen the movie version they did of it, so I can't compare it. But that series of books is one of my faves.
As for Anne Rice, I've always been a fan of hers b/c I'm a vampire freak, but her other non-vamp books are good to, at least in my opinion. She may not be to everyone's liking but everybody has their own tastes.

Anne Rice is a good horror author. I read part of Interview last year, but I own a lot of books by her.

Last book I got was The Oz Chronicles by L. Frank Baum. (It is all of the Wizard of Oz novels) I am on the second book and I highly recommend.
Christine was a good one. Red Dragon was Thomas Harris' best novel. Hannible was a really good book, it drags a bit with the Inspector in Florence, but worth a read. See the movie Deadgirl you won't be disappointed.

I think Red Dragon was the best book in the series, I liked it even better than Silence. Has anyone seen Manhunter? It was the original movie base on Red Dragon, William Peterson played Graham. Great movie! I still haven't gotten around to seeing Hannibal....maybe one of these days I'll have time.

Loved Manhunter and I thought Peterson did a better job than Norton in the recent remake. You gotta see Hannibal. It is sooo good.

I agree w/ you about Peterson in Manhunter. Not that I have anything against Edward Norton, I just don't think the role fit him. Hopefully I'll get around to seeing Hannibal soon when I get a free weekend. And as far as books, I just got "Sudden Prey" by John Sandford & "The Gunslinger" by King.

The first one I think I've read about ten times when I was a child! Watch the horror elements there - this probably made me the genre maniac I am today!

Classic books! The first one I think I've read about ten times when I was a child! Watch the horror elements there - this probably made me the genre maniac I am today! What about Red Little Hood? I've read it in the original and you can't say it hasn't got elements of horror (wolf, witch and stuff) Well, and if read between the lines it's about sex assault too! Classical, probably the oldest known horror story. Well, it's definitely not for children. ;D

You're right - the Hood got me, too! Not as much as Oz, though.
And to keep the thread going: today I finally bought David Morgan's 'Monty Python Speaks!' which, rather obviously, is a biography of the Pythons. I'm not sure how it compares to a more recent AUTObiography of the group but I'm very glad to have it - looks damn interesting!

Some of the old, ancient stuff, now. I've read Beyond this Horizon By Robert Heinlein. I'm a bit of a Heinlein's geek but this book sucks. Well, it's not a disaster but when I read his books I've got very high expectations and such an average-level is much too low for him. It's about a distant future but it lacks a true vision.

I bought Michael Slade's 'Death's Door' a few days ago. Finally one of his books translated into Polish - I started thinking it would never happen.
Anyway, I already started reading it and so far it's as good as I expected: lots of blood, many cool characters, nice mystery - everything's there. Buy it, folks!
