THE KINGDOM (2007)
A team of FBI agents (Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper and Jason Bateman) are sent to Saudi Arabia to investigate a terrorist attack at an American housing facility, but find cooperation by some of the Saudi authorities hard to come by. This was much better than I thought it was going to be based on the trailers I had seen. Thought provoking and quite a bit of action too. The last 30 minutes or so were especially tension-filled.
8/10

LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA (2006)
Clint Eastwood's companion piece to his FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, tells the story of Japanese soldiers trying to protect the island of Iwo Jima from falling into American hands during WWII. Ken Watanabe stars, and is excellent, as General Kuribayashi. Better than FLAGS....

THE INSIDER
Russell Crowe as a former tobacco executive who decided to divulge corporate secrets on the news program 60 MINUTES. Al Pacino plays the 60 MINUTES producer. Good movie, Crowe and Pacino give some of their best performances.

Baby Blood-This really should've been better, I wanted to like this one a lot but frankly, I just couldn't get into it. The premise is great, with a tortured woman at a French circus being impregnated with a virus that causes a demonic fetus to grow from within her and causes her to kill and drink the blood of her victims to keep it alive, but it's just too dull for me. The kills are all the same, the gore is simply sprays or splatter on the the walls, and the lead is way too unattractive to make her frequent nudity mean much. Which is a shame, I wanted to really like this one. 4/10
