The Protector-2006 OH......MY......GOD. This may just be the greatest martial arts film of all time. A simple plot (young farmer has prize elephants stolen, goes after guilty parties) and just sets up one ingenious fight after another. And there's no shortage of fights here, including some that are just jaw-dropping. The star of this, Tony Jaa, should be the next breakout star, and even better, he can pull off the three heroes' of the genre's styles: Jackie Chan (using his surroundings plus his skills to stop a gang, as displayed by the fight against the bike gang in the abandoned subway) Jet Li (fighting off a powerful boss in a one-on-one fight, which are scattered throughout) or Bruce Lee (displaying more grounded, non wire-fu and realistic styles such as the fight against the henchmen to enter their headquarters near the end) and all of them are packed with spectacular action, full-on fighting and truely outstanding stunts. See this one immediately if you're a fan of the genre.

Sounds good, slayrrr. Might have to give that one a look.
Just saw:
SWING TIME (1936)
I only watched this one because I really want to have seen all 100 of the movies on the AFI list (See the AFI thread) and this is one of only a couple I was missing. This was my first ever Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers movie and while it's not something I would ordinarily watch, I didn't hate it. Astaire and Rogers were both great performers with really good chemistry and it's easy to see why they were so popular. Again, not something I need to see again, but glad I saw it once. As slayrrr would say, I'm feeling generous: 7/10
HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (2007)

Backwoods-1987 Lame, unscary Deliverance rip-off, without the fun, without the tension, without the disturbing qualities or without any of the watchability. Hardly anything happens until the final ten minutes, and aside from two relatively tense chases beforehand, nothing of interest in watching this one, since what's the point in watching something good in a piece of crap if you can see that done better in a better film anyway? Not even worth it for slasher fans.

Great minds think alike, Heiney, as now I'm following you're example:
Raiders of the Lost Ark-See thoughts in Movie Genre thread.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom-See thoughts in Movie Genre thread.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade-1989 One of the best entries, and frankly it's just my kind of action film. A fantastic plot device, making it a little overlong at times due to the fact that, before anything starts he has to get his father back, but that gives us the enjoyable river-boat chase so I'm not complaining. More great action in the temple scenes, the non-stop excitement of the desert encounter and even the tank encounter is incredible fun. Some fun humor from the situation pops up as well, including the ticket agent in the Zeppelin, Hitler in Berlin and the family dynamics spread throughout, which never get old. I quite enjoy this one despite the bloated length. 9.5/10

Michael Clayton- New favorite movie of 08. Great acting (Wilkinson stole the show), the plot was intricate but not all that complicated, the film was tense, exciting, had a good script, directing, cinematography, the exact way a thriller should be made. A+.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Garth Jennings) -- fairly decent adaptation to a pretty hilarious book. Great visuals, humor, and just all sorts of fun confusion abound. Too bad I don't think they'll be making the other entries in the series. B+.

Breach (Billy Ray) -- modern spy drama that was widely underseen, with great performances from the always good Cooper and Linney, and more proof that Ryan Philleppe is coming into his own. There aren't gunfights or explosions or car chases, it's a very calm spy movie on the surface, but still quite intense and well-delivered. B+.

Yeah, BREACH was an unexpected nice surprise.
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (1989)
Sean Connery and Harrison Ford are hilarious as father and son and their on-screen chemistry and comedic banter is one of the main reasons this movie is as good as it is. You can tell they were definitely going for a lighter tone than TEMPLE OF DOOM which was very dark for an Indiana Jones movie, and pretty much everything works here. Of course, besides the humor, the action scenes are first-rate. The boat chase is right out of a Bond film, and the tank scene is almost as iconic as the truck chase from RAIDERS. That opening sequence with River Phoenix playing young Indy is just brilliant in showing us how so much of his character was defined in one adventure, ie: his fear off snakes, his first time using a whip, the scar on Ford's chin and of course, the hat. And the return and expanded roles of Sallah and Marcus Brody was nice after both characters were absent from TEMPLE OF DOOM. An all-around grand entertainment.
9/10
