I haven't been posting on this board lately, but... On my Myspace, I have a blog where I offer mini-reviews on movies that are currently in theaters. Most recently, I added Iron Man to the list. I call it: The Hollywood Bitchslap. Catchy name, ain't it? But yeah, I'll just link you to this list whenever I see a new theatrically released film. I also review movies that are out on DVD, and give my thoughts on films that have been released and that I haven't yet seen.

SHINE A LIGHT (2008)
A Rolling Stones concert film directed by Martin Scorsese. Living legends come together and it's pretty damn great. It might be a bit jarring to see closeups of these 60-something geezer's craggy faces on a huge IMAX screen, but damn, it's the motherfuckin' Rolling Stones. The picture's so clear and the sound so amazing, you'd almost swear you're sitting front row at the Beacon Theater in New York. I know it's only rock 'n roll, but I like it....
8.5/10

Jack the Ripper-An incredibly dull and uneventless entry in the numerous Jack the Ripper films. A really bland detective story masquerading as a horror film due to the use of filming the attack scenes like a stalker going after the prey, but even that can't save the film. Way too obvious who's the killer as well. 1/10
Chamber of Horrors-Lame, dull and eventless wax museum horror film, about a serial killer exacting revenge on those who caught him (yes, that means that one, the killer is known all along, and he was a serial killer to begin with) who hides his victims in the local wax museum. Just too talky and actionless to really mean anything of value, despite a lame attempt at "warning" the audience of potential dangers by flashing red markers across the screen. It's cool at first, but gets old as time goes on. 1.5/10

Make sure to see the sequel then - it's MUCH better! It's called Awakening. I just saw Black Water - a surprisingly good, tense and convincing Croc-Attack! flick made in Australia. Waiting to see Greg McLean's Rogue to check if it can be any better. 7,5/10

Wow, and I thought the original was really good. I'm definitely going to have to see that one.

Leatherheads (George Clooney) -- very poor writing runs abound -- almost every piece of dialogue is expositional and we all know Clooney's a better writer than that -- and Renee Zelwegger really bugs me for some reason; that being said, it's a fun, goofy, screwball of a movie. B.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (Steven Spielberg) -- the last 40 minutes or so of this movie are a completley and totally Indiana Jones fun, I mean, from like the possession onwards. There's battles with big dudes, cart chases through catacombs, and showdowns on rope bridges. Yes, Capshaw is annoying and Short Round . . . I dunno what was going on with him, but the movie is still just a fun ride. B+.

Speed Racer (Wachowskis) -- big, loud, goofy fun. The story does tend to drag on (whodathunk it would be slow?) and it's more dizzying than Cloverfield; those race scenes, however, are pretty cool. Car-fu to the max. B.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Steven Spielberg) -- Spielberg and company decided to do the exact opposite of the last Indiana Jones film, so this one is less dark and terrifying but far more humorous. The first installment still balances the two perfectly, yet Sean Connery is a treasure and the Jones' interaction and chemistry takes this one to the bank. A-.
