Shrek the Third- We've seen this movie twice before, and both times were much better. C-. And I hear there might be plans for a fourth. Talk about beating a dead ogre.

Trilogies were made for a reason. So people could have three chances to enjoy a grand storyline. But they're supposed to stop. But of course, (sadly) money conquers all.

Batman Begins
In my opinion, the greatest comic book movie ever made. Period. 10/10

Batman BeginsIn my opinion, the greatest comic book movie ever made. Period. 10/10 How about the greatest superhero movie too? Ride the High Country- What elevates this film to the next level is the way peckinpah, new to film then, shows the Old West and the Modern West together, through many different little instances. Also, the cinematography is goregeous. A-.

Wild Things (1998) (Blu-Ray)
HD Video - 6/10 HD Audio Dolby Digital - 8/10 HD Audio LPCM - 8/10
Nope, no typo. This film looks as good as The Game for HD DVD. Yikes! Also (besides the softness, washed away colors etc etc) there were frequent scenes which looked like actual frames were missing! Is there a compression term for this? In other words, steady cam shots displayed throughout the film looked stuttered. I noticed this for the first time real bad with Gone in 60 Seconds. Thankfully, it isn't too consistent throughout but it is there & it is distracting. Exterior shots with lots of vivid color & edge enhancement doesn't really help nether. One thing I noticed was an entire elimination of grain & dirt which was present throughout the SD presentation. For that reason alone is why I am not giving this transfer a 5/10. (A rating I'd give if the HD transfer is on par with the SD transfer upconverted) The audio is much better, but I found no discrete ambient sounds when comparing the DD to the LPCM. Take your pick, it really doesn't matter. Dialog is well mixed, surrounds get a minor workout as well as the LFE. There just wasn't anything the lossless track offered more of when compared to the dolby.

Under Siege- Actually a good action flick. What I really enjoyed was the acting from Seagal, Jones, and Busey. They all seem perfect for the roles they got. B+.

THE HOSPITAL (1971) The Hospital- George C. Scott was fantastic and the script was quite inventive, although the movie gets boring for a little in the middle. But I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Another good Paddy Chayefsky-written flick. B+. I thought it got boring for a lot more than just "a little in the middle". I agree that Scott and the dialogue was fantastic though. The story just kind of left me wanting more. 5.5/10 NEW YORK, NEW YORK (1977) Martin Scorsese & Robert De Niro teamed up for the third time, after MEAN STREETS and TAXI DRIVER, for this "sort of" homage to the musicals of yesteryear, of all things. Don't worry, De Niro doesn't sing, he plays a sax player who falls for a lounge singer (Liza Minnelli). But this being Scorsese & De Niro, everything's not bright and happy. De Niro's character is an overbearing and abusive jerk who grows more and more jealous of Minnelli's rising career. Pretty much three hours of that was way too much for me. Way too boring and mean spirited and way too long for so little plot. On the plus side, this movie did give us the title track which has become a pop standard and even a signature song for Frank Sinatra himself. "Start spreading the news..." 4/10

I can't stand Steven Seagal, but even I thought this one was pretty good. I think director Andrew Davis had a lot to do with that. His next film was THE FUGITIVE with Harrison Ford.

Back when Mad TV was still funny, Will Sasso used to do a great Steven Seagal. Absolutely hilarious. I feel Under Siege is one Steven Seagal movie I can look at and say, "You know what? It didn't suck." Unlike that one where he blows up an oil refinery and then talks about saving the evironment.

One of my faves...and TLJ is outstanding! Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes2/4- I had figured this would be pretty bad, but I actually enjoyed it...and it's always nice seeing Lance Henriksen and Doug Bradley

One of my faves...and TLJ is outstanding! I loved him. I thought he was the best. "To watch Honolulu glow in the dark." The delivery of that line was perfect. It's such a creepy line, and the way he said it, as if he were anticipating it, like he was ready to watch fireworks on the 4th of July. (SPOILERS) And the scene where he launches the tomahawks with him doing the three little pigs and the air guitar was just great (END SPOILERS). No wonder the next film he'd do (one of my favorites), The Fugitive, he'd win an Oscar. The Simpsons Movie- Did I think it was fantastic excellent? No. But it was a rock solid funny movie. There are quite a few genuine belly laughs but I thought it'd be a lot more funny. It's really the same feeling as after I saw Borat. I was a tad dissapointed. But I'd still say it did justice as adapting the show to the big screen. B+.

The Simpsons Movie
Significantly better than the last few seasons, not as funny as the first 10. I will say it was a smooth transition to the big screen, which in itself was an accomplishment. 8/10
