Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix- The whole time watching the movie, I was trying to compare it to my favorite movie in the series, "Goblet of Fire." You see, this one was good in bringing out the feeling of rights being removed, of evil returning through dreaded premonitions, and a feeling of a traitor in Harry. In fact, it almost felt like "Revenge of the Sith," but nowhere near as good. I felt a lot more impact in the last film, as this one just can't pack the punches. *SPOILER ALERT* When Diggory is killed in "Goblet," it really is terrible, because it is the first instance that Harry sees (and profoundly remembers) a death, and Diggory is killed for nothing. Just a casualty. *END SPOILER* I just think that this wasn't nearly as good as the last one. B+.

Network (Syndey Lumet) -- an engrossing satire...some of which has become true. Not to mention excellent monologues, though my favorite was the one towards the end where one character tells another that she's not living in reality and this isn't some script. A.

Bad Day at Black Rock (John Sturges) -- great framing, great perfomances, superb intensity and set up; the climax to me, however, felt a little disappointing. Like, the last 5 ot 10 minutes. Still a really good film. A-.

The Hospital- George C. Scott was fantastic and the script was quite inventive, although the movie gets boring for a little in the middle. But I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Another good Paddy Chayefsky-written flick. B+.

Over the last couple days I had a bit of a movie-watching extravaganza...
Breakfast at Tiffany's - Loved it. Another Audrey Hepburn classic, and it was great seeing her play something different. Truman Capote may not have been satisfied, but I was. 9/10
Blazing Saddles - A hilarious take on Westerns, as well as one of Mel Brooks' finest. 9/10
Beauty and the Beast - One of Disney's best. Makes you wonder why they can't seem to make them like this anymore. 10/10
License to Wed - It is what it is. I laughed quite a bit, so as a comedy it got the job done. Nothing special. Very good date movie though. 7/10
Funny Face - Yes, I've been watching a lot of Hepburn lately. Just catching up is all. This was also my first Fred Astaire film (I need to catch up with some of his work as well). Good Hollywood musical. 8/10

Watched yesterday:
UNITED 93 (2006) (With Director, Paul Greengrass' commentary)
Even with him talking over a lot of the dialogue, this film still packs an emotional whallop. I defy anyone to watch this and not be moved by it, especially towards the end. That last part is probably some of the most tension-filled and anxiety provoking 30 minutes ever put on film.
9/10
And on the other end of the spectrum, it's just as I anticipated:
THE ADVENTURES OF PLUTO NASH (2002)
Quite simply, one of the worst pieces of crap I've ever wasted my time watching. I knew it would be bad, but I had no idea about the level of bad. Not only is it not funny, but even worse, it looks like no one even really tried. Here are just some of the actors who have all done much better work in the past and most of whom went on to do much better work afterwards, but now have this shit-brown stain on their filmographies: Eddie Murphy, Randy Quaid, Rosario Dawson, Joe Pantoliano, Jay Mohr, Luis Guzman, Peter Boyle, Burt Young, Pam Grier, John Cleese, Illeana Douglas and Alec Baldwin. Normally you would look at that cast list and think, "Wow, that's probably going to be a really good movie.", well, the joke's on you.
The signs were all there. The minute I saw Jay Mohr playing an accordion in a kilt at the beginning of the film, I should've turned it off. And later, Randy Quaid's lame robot character is just an insult to Quaid's talent as well as an insult to robots.
Hey Phoenix, I'll bet this was worse than NORBIT. But I don't really want you to watch this to compare them. This is definitely a must to avoid. And that goes for anyone reading this. I've watched PLUTO NASH so you don't have to. Just doing my small part for The Board.
1/10

I hate to admit this, but some babsitting crap last night:
Bring it On-Nothing spectacular, but at least the whole point of the film, the choreography, wasn't that bad. And Eliza Dushku should've spent the whole film in a bikini, would've made it more bearable during the really, really lame jokes.
Bring it On: All or Nothing-Quite simply the most predictable movie ever. Hits it's points in exact order that every other film of this type hits, and once again, some hot leads. And the slapstick was pretty nice.
Stick It-Was bored out of my mind with this one, one of the longest hour and a halves I've sat through. Don't really remember too much about this one at all.
Plus, when I got home, had this one recorded: A Day at the Races-Quite simply hilarious. My first Marx Brothers experience, and if this is any indication, I'm gonna have to track down more of them. The gags are outstanding, the jokes are gut-busting and there's no real semblance of sanity.

Yesterday we unintentionally watched a Reitman family double-feature.
First, from director, Ivan Reitman:
MY SUPER EX-GIRLFRIEND (2006)
Starts out cute, but it's esentially a "one-joke" comedy that gets old pretty fast. Reitman has made much better movies, as a director & producer, ie: STRIPES, ANIMAL HOUSE, GHOSTBUSTERS, TWINS, PRIVATE PARTS, DAVE, HEAVY METAL, etc. However, this was still better than his EVOLUTION.
5.5/10
Then, from his son, writer/director, Jason Reitman:
THANK YOU FOR SMOKING (2005)
Funny satire about a tobacco industry lobbyist, starring Aaron Eckhart in a brilliant performance, as a master "spin doctor". This is the kind of guy that people are talking about when they say, "He could sell ice to the Eskimos.".
8/10

A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION (2006)
A bittersweet backstage story set during the last broadcast of a radio show. Kind of fitting that it would turn out to be Robert Altman's last film. Funny at times, especially the singing cowboys played by Woody Harrelson & John C. Reily, but overall, not really my cup of tea. Great cast though and there's no denying Altman's talent as a director.
6/10
