An Inconvenient Truth (Davis Guggenheim) -- Gore's right, this isn't a political issue, it's a moral one. All right, it is kind of dull if you're watching it as a film because essentially it's a very advanced PowerPoint presentation, but every minute Mr. Gore speaks, I wish more and more that he were leading this country...er, America. Jackie Brown (Quentin Tarantino) -- if I had to say, I would say that this is Tarantino's best film, maybe because much of it was originally written by Elmore Leonard so he didn't have as much room to copy and paste. At 154 minutes, it's never really boring or tedious and the con is great. Guillermo Navarro, who is a good cinematographer but not as good as Emmanuel Lubezki, creates great images but proves how much of a sloppy director Tarantino is (the man needs to learn better control of his framing). Decent, fun, and a soulful soundtrack. B.

Knocked Up
Took me long enough, but I finally saw it. And I gotta say, this was freakin' hilarious. Judd Apatow has an eye for naturalistic and improvised comedy. This and The 40 Year Old Virgin prove it. Seth Rogen does what Steve Carrell did two years ago and proves he can hold his own as a leading man. And he's got that everyman feel to him, which makes him easier to relate to - because not every man can be Richard Gere... and fat guys somehow DO get hot chicks. It all works out. It's a great comedy, and the second best movie this summer (behind Pirates). 9/10

Enemy of the State - a very long conspiracy film that feels tired and out-dated. They focus in on all these satellites to make you feel paranoid and the message is preachy (don't let the government steal our privacy!). Give me a break. It would have been cooler if they used better technology, like human microchips and smaller transceivers. And the ending is so contrived. I like Will Smith and Tony Scott but this movie is Hollywood crap.
2/10

Kill Bill Volume 1 (Quentin Tarantino) -- Tarantino comes to terms with the fact he can't do much more than copy and paste scenes from other movies, and as a result, we get to have a lot of fun. B.

OVER THE HEDGE (2006)
Cute animated flick with a funny slam against American gluttony. The character designs are really nice and the voices are spot on, with special kudos to Bruce Willis, Gary Shandling & Thomas Haden Church. Not in the same league as, well, pretty much any Pixar flick, but on about equal ground with that other cgi "animals on the loose" pic, MADAGASCAR. Definitely better than A SHARK'S TALE though, which I thought tried way too hard to be hip and cool. Most kids will be entertained and parents can watch without wanting to blow their own brains out.
6.5/10

Wall Street - Pre-Natural Born Killers Oliver Stone is the best Oliver Stone in my opinion. Who knew the stock market could be so damn interesting? Also, Michael Douglas kicked ass. 8/10

Bound for Glory- Compared to other country biopics, it is not as good. It is much more simpler so I felt it lost some of its "glory." Best Picture nominee? I don't know. But it was good. B+.

Epic Movie - I couldn't make it all the way through but my husband did. I'm tired of these kinds of spoofs, they are so freakin' stupid!

Epic Movie - I couldn't make it all the way through but my husband did. I'm tired of these kinds of spoofs, they are so freakin' stupid! Knowing that this was done by the same guys who did Date Movie, I avoided this one like the plague. Also, the trailers were horribly unfunny.
