Flushed Away -- kind of an empty story but full of plenty of cute moments and hilarity to make up for it. A weaker Aardman effort but still better than a lot of other computer-animated movies. B.

Alien
I just wish they were still making Horror movies like this today (and by that, I don't mean remaking them). A masterpiece in every aspect of the word. A+

The Devil's Backbone -- still del Toro's best film and the least conventional and cliche, which is really his biggest problem, both Spanish and English languaged films. B+.

Duck Season -- the tagline for the film is "When was the last time you let the day get away from you?" It's a really slow movie, with no big payoff at the end, but there's plenty of nice moments in between that make it worth watching, as well as some beautiful stagnant cinematography. B.

Grand Hotel
An early ensemble film, pretty melodramatic, but still a classic with one of Hollywood's most memorable lines: Greta Garbo's "I want to be alone." A-

Yes! David Fincher has concocted a true masterpiece. Long as it was, it was perfectly directed, perfectly written, the cinematography was great, everything about it was great. Rober Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo are two fantastic actors, and the both of them gave excellent performances in this movie. A+

An Inconvenient Truth- At first I thought, "I don't need to see this film." Then, after I saw it, I totally disregarded that thought. First I was like okay, I get it, then I was getting scared, then I felt inspired to make a difference. Definately important. See it. A+.
Bridge to Terabithia- It was good, I'm very glad it wasn't a fantasy film, but the beginning had terrible editing, it was hurting my eyes, but it was a worthy adaptation. B+.

THE DEPARTED (2006)
Watched it again last night. Just a damn good adult movie like they used to make all the time in the 70's. Great acting across the board. Upon a second viewing it was even better than the first time, and I've even knocked my score up by a 1/2 point. Something I almost never do. If GOODFELLAS is Scorsese's masterpiece, then this is easily one of the strongest among all the other films he's ever made. 9/10

Harsh Times- I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, which was shelved for two years by MGM until it recieved an under-the-radar release to 900 odd theaters. It is really good due to strong performances, from Bale (of course) and his costar Freddy Rodriguez. Plus, the film is very realistic. I can imagine a person in LA living as depicted in this film. There are some problems though like how during tense scenes the screen gets bright and images flash and there's a crappy slo-mo scene at the end. There's also (what I'd consider) a copout ending. But even though the tense scenes were over shadowed by bad post-production choices, they pack a good punch, and though the ending is not so good, the rest is good, and I recommend it. A-.

A+ You'll probably hate me for saying this but the reason I didn't see the movie (and maybe a lot of movie goers didn't) is because I feel like I could watch a CSI episode on kind of the same subject in 45 minutes on network TV. Two and a half hours? TOO LONG on a tired subject (a serial killer). I don't knock that it has a great cast and a great director....but A+? really?

I gave 300 an A+ (because let's face it, I really, really, really loved that movie)... And I liked this one better. Also, due to writing, direction, casting and cinematography, and the fact that in 2:40 hours I was never bored, I stand by it. Also, I don't watch CSI.
