Hey Q, very sorry to hear about all your troubles & I can't really add anything more to the great advice & comments by the others....but regarding you & your wife's problems..don't let this stuff come between you! ( I know, that's easier said than done, but it CAN be done). My brother & his girlfriend are going through just about the same kind of problem with his ex-wife & her mother. They split for awhile b/c of all the stress then said F*ck it, it's our life we'll live & be happy, screw everyone else, as long as they & their kids (she has two girls) are all happy together then that's all that counts. So make your son & your wife your #1 priority (which I'm sure they already are), & just concentrate on getting all that worked out. Don't give up! Like slayrr said, I don't see you as the kind of person who gives up easily!

Hey Q, I haven't read this thread in a long time and I just wanted to throw my support out there. Are you still joining the National Guard? The military can be a huge support system just FYI - new friends, new life, new challenges. It's a bit ironic that it can actually save someone's life but when you've hit rock bottom it can do a lot of great things for you. It's something to look forward to.
Things will work out for your son - your ex can't take him away from you forever.
Good luck and keep us updated....

She's now legally bound to let me see him. And it pissed her off. Now, if she uses him as a weapon, she'll be violating a court order--and she'll be in deep shit. And I'm still going for the Guard. Computer Sciences or Topography. Hopefully the former. Both are Military Intelligence positions. I take my physical in two days. If I pass through that, I'm basically accepted.

Hey Quorthon,
You're the funniest guy here and I'm sorry that you have so much shit going on in your life.
At least you still have your son and you've made it so much much more obvious that the kid's lucky to have you for a dad.
Good luck with your National Guard trip. And good luck with everything else.

I finished my swearing in today.
I am a Private First Class in the United States National Guard. I'll initially be stationed in Fort Knox for my Basic Training.
But I don't ship out until July 20th, so I, well, the wife and I have to figure out what the hell we're really going to do here. I'm really not ready to try talking about this crap again. We're getting along, sorta, right now. Actually, when we spent our last evening together, it went really well and we got along. Our lease is up July first.
Bloody hell!!
But, at least in the Guard, I'll be pulling in some serious money.

Fort Knox, huh?
Well, Quorth - lots of good luck with this and with sorting out the family problems, too. It's good to see things are now a bit better than they used to be. The fingers are crossed!

A bit better in this case is like lowering the temperature in an active volacano 5 degrees. An improvement is good, but it's almost too small to register. I'm still ultra stressed out these days, and still hardly sleeping. My wife will probably be staying here in our place, with me helping on the money-end, as I promised to do. She doesn't make any promises about the future, and I think it's a case of thinking about something so much, that she's getting determined to make it happen. Like, she's been thinking "I'm not happy, I need a divorce" so much that it's getting ingrained in her mind. I don't know. I just know I don't want to lose her.

I just finished up my first Guard weekend.
And holy shit am I ever sore. Every muscle aches. I'm so out of shape, it's not even funny. And I'm thin! Well, I was. I'm actually a lot heavier than I thought I was.
Basic Training is just going to fucking suck.

My dorm floor just won this radio contest that's been going on for three weeks.
We were so far in the lead until Wednesday, when the floor below us stole all our information and began calling the campus radio station, so we had to call them and KCSU was just ringing off the hook.
It was intense.
They were like Bart in that Simpsons episode (The Boy Band One) where there's a race and Bart jumps out about thirty feet from the finish line.
Except they didn't win.
We're happy.
Each person on the floor won a box full of CDs, shirts, concert tickets, a pizza party, and other such cool stuff.
We're happy.

Hey everyone! Today my apartment building caught fire! Roughly 30 apartments have been destroyed. Luckily, they were on the south end of our long building, not the north end where the wife and I (and my son, our cat, and our lizards) are forced to habitate. Rumor has it that it was started by a faulty air conditioner. Check out these picts from my wife: Here's one of the news stories: Quorthon lives in this building!
