Basic Instinct 2. What? You didn't think I'd go out of my way to see this one? Was it the soft core porn the previews make it out to be? No, I wouldn't say that. It's an average thriller with an unconvincing twist and Sharon's nipples showing from time to time. Redeeming values: beautiful, cold London setting and David Thewlis as a stubborn cop.

The Usual Suspects--Bryan Singer proves he can create a more mind-twisting, what-the-fuck-was-that-ending?! movie better than anyone else. A

The Boondock Saints--mindless drivel from a director without an original bone in his body. Basically he took "Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai," "The Usual Suspects," and Quentin Tarantino, cut them up and made them Irish, filled them with religious symbolism (to make himself seem smart) and some of the worst, cliche slow-motion and "cap-in-your-ass" dialogue ever created. It could work on a camp level but nothing else. D.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown- See it for the squirrel. Damn, those sight gags are TIMELESS baby, YEAH! LOVE the squirrel ;D...they could make a whole movie just about him. Had the nephew this weekend so we watched: Ice Age 2 3/4- Not as good as the first but still very good. Laughed most of the way through it, along w/ the theatre full of kids. And the squirrel was the icing on the cake. Valiant 2/4 Meh....

While we were watching the mom next to me said to her five year old, "Isn't that squirrel not getting his nut getting a little old?" and the five year old doesn't answer her at first until the scene is over. His reply: "No mom, that doesn't get old." I agree. ;D

Orange County- Very good for an MTV movie. Jack Black is hysterical.
High Tension- Extremely formulaic, but entertaining nonetheless.

Basic Instinct 2
Wow. Considering this has enough campiness to give Adam West one Hell of a fight, this was one pretentious fucking film. Someone tried really hard to make this look like an intellectual thriller, but the intellectual feel gets lost in the bad dialogue, one-liners, and somewhat predictable (especially since this is far from the first time Hollywood has used it) ending. And even though I never once took the movie seriously, the ending still pissed me off.
But this sequel that no one really asked for does indeed have one redeeming quality. Sharon Stone may be pushing fifty, but she still looks hot.
They probably just should have called it Basic Instinct 2: Smoking, Smug, and Smoking. Because Stone's acting only seemed to cover looking smug and lighting up cigarettes. Would I consider it softcore porn? I'd say so.
Story: 7/10 Acting: 1/10 Screenwriting: 1/20 Direction: 0/20 - mainly because I don't like being talked down to by a movie that I spent more time laughing at than I should have.
