The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou--to complete my series of reviews for Wes films.
O Brother Where Art Thou?--the Coens go fun!
The Fifth Element--silly but cool cyberpunk. B

Fallen 2/4- Pretty good, but too predictable

The Ice Storm- A good, heavy drama.
Date Movie- Funny, but it relied a bit too heavily on gross-out humor.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan- Brilliant sci-fi.
On the Waterfront- A good movie with a knockout (no pun intended) performance by Brando.

ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (2005)
Routine and predictable action flick, and not just because I've seen the original. Can't help but feel that almost everyone in the cast did this one only for the paycheck. Ethan Hawke only showed some signs of life in the early scenes where his character was undercover as a drug dealer. He, Laurence Fishburne, Gabriel Byrne & Brian Dennehey (in one of his worst performances), all much better actors than this material, pretty much sleepwalk through this movie. John Leguizamo needs a better agent. Hasn't he progressed enough in his career where he can turn down this kind of role yet? 5.5/10
OF MICE AND MEN (1992)
My favorite screen version of the classic John Steinbeck novel. This one starring John Malkovich as slow-witted Lennie and Gary Sinise, who also directed, as his buddy George. Highly recommended. 8.5/10

Near Dark. You know... I always think it's much shorter than it should have been.

A bunch of killer dogs/werewolves to report:
Rottweiler-Pretty much a wastes opportunity. A killer Rottweiler with steel teeth and the great Paul Naschy in the movie, how could this one have failed? More male nudity than I would've cared for and a totally confusing plot, but some nice gore and a couple of jumps don't really make up for it. Could've been the best horror movie of the new millennium. 6/10
The Howling-Still ages beautifully. Fights it out with Dog Soldiers for the top spot, but the transformation alone makes it hard to top. 9.5/10
Howling IV: The Original Nightmare-Been a while since I've seen it, but I don't remember having as much fun with it. Great mystery plot-line that I wasn't expecting being so creepy, and one of the better meltdowns I've seen in a long and very gruesome scene, but a pretty fast climax and lack of on screen werewolves severely damage it. 8.5/10

A bunch of killer dogs/werewolves to report: You must've been watching SciFi channel this weekend. ;D Wish I could've gotten in on the "Watchers" movies they were showing...I think there were three of them? Just saw a little bit of the last one. Watched today: House of 1000 Corpses Sin City

I found out about them too late to see the Watchers ones, as I have 1 but haven't seen it yet, and never seen 2, 3 or 4, but at least I saw the others.

Match Point--a perfectly boring movie, until the third act when it gets brilliant. B+

Final Destination 3 - I put my comments under Smittys' round up on the movie review thread.
If you're a fan of the franchise, a worthy edition.

A Place In The Sun- A "delicious" mixture of romance, intrigue, infidelity, murder, and courtroom scenes.
Zathura- A fantastic fantasy movie.
