BATMAN BEGINS
One of the best comic book films of the year, but SIN CITY was just a hair better. 8.5/10

I said I would watch "Star Wars 3" last night with my sister, but she had a late class that prohibited our viewing of it, but we'll see it tonight for sure.

"Patton" - Superbly realised battle scenes (and aftermaths), made so much better knowing that there is not a CGI figure in sight, with some amazing stunt work as massed ranks of men run between speeding tanks and huge explosions. But above all towers George C Scott who rips up the screen in one of THE great movie performances, as a colossal figure in the history of modern conflict. And let's face it...with more men like Patton getting things done the Western Democracies would be in a much stronger position against their enemies. So sayeth me!!
Great Film making.

I was sorry to see Colin Powell go. But, that's how presidential second terms tend to go... Maybe for President....

Man, that opening monologue by Patton (George C. Scott) standing in front of the American flag, has got to be one of the most iconic scenes in movie history. I think he deserved his Oscar for that speech alone. So, I decided that I've seen way too many good movies lately and have ended that little run with the following: FAT ALBERT (2004) Bill Cosby's 70's Saturday morning staple hits the big screen in this live action flick. The results? Not a total disaster, but nothing real memorable either. The young actors all look and sound like their animated counterparts, but the story is really flimsy and generic. I grew up on the cartoon, so for me personally, the movie had it's charms, and a kind of naivety about it that you don't see in most modern teen comedies, but overall it's just not good enough for me to really recommend it either. 4.5/10 CATWOMAN (2004) Now this, this is a disaster of epic proportions! Halle Berry gets the abilities of a cat which, of course, gives her the ability to play basketball really well and drive a motorcycle extremely fast. I can't remember how many times I've seen cats do those particular things. I knew I should've changed the channel after the first fifteen minutes, but like the proverbial train wreck, I just couldn't turn away. Even Berry's fine leather-clad ass couldn't save this one. All I can say is, "Wow". Just, "Wow." 2/10 (Gets two points for Berry's aforementioned fine leather-clad ass. One for each cheek.)

Jarhead - 10/10. I agree with Pulp. This was one of the year's best films. Do NOT expect an action movie, do NOT expect a political film. It is about a troop's experience in a war where nothing really happened. Makes for some incredibly dramatic scenes. Great performances - Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard and Jamie Foxx all deserve Oscar nominations.
As for the critics, fuck off. If I want to see a film that tells me Bush is a bad president, I'll watch Fahrenheit 9/11.
The Weather Man - Also 10/10. Waah, it's depressing. Boo fucking hoo. What did you expect? Still an honest, funny movie with some great performances all around. Nick Cage is great, and Michael Caine brought tears to my eyes. If you liked Adaptation, you should like the Weather Man.
