Wrong Turn- Pretty good cannibal flick. Near as I figure, I'm the only person on here who hates that foul movie. All I saw was more Hollywood pretty people getting chased and killed in cheesy, cliche Hollywood ways. Cabin Fever > Wrong Turn I finally finally finally watched Land of the Dead (lousey lack of money ruined my chances on the big screen) and I absolutely love that movie! Best zombie film to hit the big screen in ages. Better than Dawn Remake, 28 Days, and even the brilliant Shaun of the Dead.

See, Quorth? I was telling you, was I? Land Of The Dead rules and that's that!
Last saw a double dip of shitty horror-making: Deep Evil and Deep Freeze (aka Ice Crawlers); the first stars Lorenzo Lamas as a soldier fighting evil liquid, while the second sports a bunch of boring no-names fighting evil trilobites. Uh... yeah.

Watched Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story last night. Hilarious! I'd heard mixed reviews, and it wasn't as over-the-top raunchy as I thought it would be, but still great fun.

Watched on Sunday:
Martin Scorsese's CASINO (1995)
Another great film, with Scorsese regulars Robert De Niro & Joe Pesci plus Sharon Stone & James Woods. An "unofficial" sequel to GOODFELLAS. It doesn't feature the same characters, but it's the next step into that world. Not the masterpiece GOODFELLAS is, but definitely still worth seeing. 8/10
On Monday I started my annual week long celebration of Halloween with:
David Cronenberg's THE FLY (1986)
Not just a great remake, but a great horror/sci-fi movie. Jeff Goldblum at his best as a scientist whose experiments with teleportation go horribly wrong. A fast paced tight story, some award worthy acting, visual & makeup effects that still hold up pretty well and some cringe-worthy gross-out moments. Very good stuff. 8.5/10

My annual week long celebration of Halloween continued on Tuesday with:
THE OMEN (1976)
Gregory Peck and Lee Remick bring someone else's baby home and all Hell breaks loose. Literally. Features a great Billie Whitelaw as Mrs. Baylock, the scariest nanny since Mary Poppins. Creepy kid too. Still has some pretty good chills, but getting a little dated. 8/10
And on Wednesday with:
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984)
The original, and still the best Freddy Kreuger flick. Back when he was still kinda scary and not so much like a stand-up comic on improv night. And come on, the chance to see a pre-stardom Johnny Depp get killed by being sucked into his own bed? Classic. Really starting to show it's age though. 7.5/10

"Blind Terror" - Mia Farrow is hunted by a cowboy boot wearing killer who has bumped off her Aunt and Uncle. Thing is though...she's blind! Nothing spectacular but it holds fond memories for many who have seen it because of the wonderfully macabre sequence when she returns, unknowing, to the house and walks around the place unable to see the corpses lying around. The classic scene is when she runs a bath not knowing the bloodied corpse of her Uncle is lying in the tub!
"Doomwatch" - Big screen move for the Brit 60s/70's TV show about environmental polution etc. Strangely the actual TV cast are relegated to support roles as the ever welcome Ian Bannen (in a delightfully angry and snarling performance) tries to work out why the people on a remote island are becoming mutated and bursting out into psychotic rages. Some subtle make-up FX, a fine cast of Brit stalwarts (including a doddering George Sanders and the cute Judy Geeson) an interesting plot and some delightfully cliche "You be not wanted around these parts!! There's nothing for you here! Leave!" type Islanders who don't like outsiders. A nice little sci-fi/horror treat that's no big thrills but always makes for a welcome watch.

Wow, where to start. Its Halloween time, so here's the following rundown:
On AMC: Halloween 4 (Vastly underrated, and one of my favorite sequels) Halloween 5 (Probably the weaklink in the series, but only because I so love parts 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8) Halloween: Ressurection (New idea fro the series, pretty much pulled it off, just needed to kill of Busta Rhymes) An American Werewolf in London (I actually prefer The Howling as the werewolf movie of 81, and sadly, even Howling 4 I like better than this one, which I like more than the original Howling myself!) Hellraiser (Need I say more) Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 (Nice to see this one getting some love on TV)
On Sci-Fi: Dinocroc (A fast-moving creature feature, look for a review to pop up soon, Q) Vampires: Los Muertos (Bon Jovi in a horror film! That's scary) The Breed (Nothing to special, okay vampire movie) Urban Legend (The source for the new review) Cherry Falls (Ok slasher, good cast, and finally a sense of morality in horror films)
On Showtime: Miner's Massacre (Low-budget ghost miner slasher, had some good moments and a gerat cast of veterans) Toolbox Murders (Thanks for the recommend, you guys, I love this version) Ring of Darkness (I heard zombies were in it, but a bit of a let-down) Amityville 2 (Can't match the original, but had some good parts)

Glad you liked Toolbox, slayrrr! As for Vampires: Los Muertos - it has an okay start but then... nooo.
Last saw: Single White Female 2. Yes, really - I saw it. I guess I don't have to add it's nowhere near the Jennifer Jason Leigh & Bridget Fonda-starring original? The girls here undress much more often, though.

How much undressing are we talking, here? I need some nudity fix, and all my DVDs have been seen to regularly to have an effect.

Turned that one off after a few minutes...Jon couldn't even save it for me.

Watched Queen of the Damned (for the millionth time...) yesterday on SciFi. I hated that movie. (Q, I finally hate one!) It's just slow, plodding, and nothing really sticks out in my head. Ooh, Aliyaah (spelling?) was in it, so what. I've seen better performances from the twigs on trees in the background to countless films. I'm not a big vampire fan (outside of the Lord Christopher Lee) so it lost more points there. The stylized look ruined it as well. It looked to clean, and with me not jumping at any scene, it led to a dull viewing experience. I have a gut instinct as to why you watched it, but my opinion is that I hated it.
