Spanglish. A nice movie with great turns from all the leads (Sandler!) but plot-wise it's nothing all that special.

The Howling 2 starsNot a bad werewolf flick. Entertaining & the ending was literally killer. Only two stars? Big fan of this movie. Night Shift- A hilarious early movie from Ron Howard. Michael Keaton cracks me up in this flick. Definitely a star making performance by him. And a very underrated movie. Just watched L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (1997) Defintiely one of those films that has grown on me. My second viewing and I enjoyed it much more this time.

Yesterday, I saw a whopping four movies!
Already reviewed, A History of Violence.
Then I went to a private screening of Get Rich or Die Tryin', Jim Sheridan's next picture, starring 50 Cent. I'm not a fan of 50 Cent... at all. But the movie was really good. Review coming soon.
Right after that, I saw Serenity, a cool sci-fi which in my opinion is better than the Star Wars prequels in a sense that it has more personality. Review coming soon.
Then at night, I caught the classic Nosferatu on TV. God, that movie was creepy... possibly because it was made before sound.

Heineken, Me rating system, 0/4 = (Extremely Bad) 1/4 = (Bad, Poor) 2/4 = (Good, Alright) 3/4 = (Very Good) 4 = (Excellent, Superb) Oh, that's what I figured 2/4 meant. For me, personally, it's at least a 3/4. Very original story, great effects, good acting, great in-jokes, cool looking werewolves, spooky atmosphere, and still the best, imho, werewolf transformation scene. I was kind of interested in checking out SERENITY until I found out it's a big screen spin-off of the cancelled TV series "FIREFLY", which I never watched. Maybe I'll see it someday after I watch "FIREFLY". I hear you don't have to see the series to enjoy the movie, but that you definitely will get more out of it if you have. NOSFERATU is a silent film classic. And Max Schreck is still one of the creepiest "Draculas" to ever hit the screen.

The Howling 2 starsNot a bad werewolf flick. Entertaining & the ending was literally killer. Only two stars? Big fan of this movie. A month ago I was reviewing the Howling SE DVD for a magazine, rated it 4/5, and soon heard from the editor that this is way too much for such a pretentious little film; my answer was "This is a classic and the four stars are there to stay". We'll see if this review appears at all. So, um, yeah - I'm a fan of this, too.

Very original story, great effects, good acting, great in-jokes, cool looking werewolves, spooky atmosphere, and still the best, imho, werewolf transformation scene. Spot-on. I agree with ya on the werewolf transformation scene. I didn't look at the clock, but it was at least 2 minutes. Original.. Was or Still is? The atmosphere was great sinse most of the film took place in the woods. Now I dunno if ya seen the trailer theatrically (its on the dvd) but the whole premise for The Howling gave you the impression the whole film took place in the city! Luckly I watched it afterwards. The film "seemed" dated which is why the 2 stars.

The film "seemed" dated which is why the 2 stars. Yeah, I guess if it's your first time seeing it, I can understand it looking a bit dated. I saw it in theaters when it was brand new. What was that, about '80 or '81? Which would've made me about 14 or 15. That's the difference between seeing these types of movies when they're brand new or many years later. Our points of reference are totally different. Some recent movies I watched: DODGEBALL (2004) After my dissapointment with Ben Stiller's STARSKY & HUTCH, I wasn't expecting much from this one, but I gotta say that I was pleasantly surprised. The plot is your basic thinly-veiled ROCKY story, but there are some damn funny moments here. Stiller was in all-out "jerk mode", which was a nice change from all the good guys he's played lately. On the other side of the spectrum, it was also nice to see Vince Vaughn in the relatively "straight" role to all the lunatics around him. "You had me at blood and semen.". Funny stuff. 7.5/10 GHOST WORLD (2000) First saw this last year on IFC. Liked it so much I recently bought the DVD. Thora Birch (AMERICAN BEAUTY) is fantastic as a social outsider who meets an older lonely guy who is a collector of rare records (Steve Buscemi in one of his best roles). Eccentric characters, some funny dialogue and never boring. 8.5/10

Snake In The Eagle's Shadow- Funny and action packed. A martial arts classic.
Deconstructing Harry- Hilarious. "Daddy's out of focus! Daddy's out of focus!"
Radio Days- Woody Allen with heart. Seth Green rules!
Sleepy Hollow- I was expecting more, but still got a great film.
