You didn't think Jake G. growing a big bushy mustache was enough to "age" him? ;D I always think it's funny how they do that to age people in movies. Great comments.
Last night I watched Swimming Pool. Great adult female-oriented drama. My husband sat through it but I think he hated it. Better appreciated by women for sure. 6/10 for me.

I saw a free screening of Mel Gibson's Apacalypto last night. It was my least favorite Gibson movie. It's basically like all his other films except this time the main characters are Mayans. The gore was over-the-top, some of the lines were ridiculous and overall it felt formulaic. The characters are engaging though, like any Gibson film. Still, a bit of a bummer for me.
5/10

NORTH COUNTRY (2005)
Well made, and good performances, especially by Charlize Theron, Frances McDormand & Woody Harrelson, but I had a feeling of been there done that while watching this, ie; NORMA RAE, SILKWOOD, A CIVIL ACTION, ERIN BROKOVICH, etc.
6.5/10

Deliverance- The canoeing scenes were good and the rape scene was well done, as was the battle with Voight and the other hillbilly, but some scenes feel too drawn out and the great actors are underused. The multiple endings really don't work for this film either. ***.
The Princess Bride- It was a nice movie but I don't see why so many people consider it one of the best movies ever made. ***.

Deja Vu
This movie was crazy. Stylish, but not seizure-inducing. Denzel was great, and while it was difficult to cope with Jesus playing a bad guy, Jim Caviezel did an excellent job. His character was very hateable and creepy even. This was a cool movie. B+

Within the Woods- It's pretty cool to see the evolution of this into Evil Dead. Some big differences too. ***.

Stranger than Fiction- Overrated and pretentious. *. Do you even know what pretentious means? I mean, not just you, but that word is thrown out far too much as a negative connotation. It's like the guy in Princess Bride screaming, "Inconceivable!"
