If you want The Shaft, I'll throw it up. Frank, you want to do the same with Do Not Disturb, I wouldn't mind either way. Let me look through my archives and I'll see if I can find it.

"The Night Listener"--Robin Williams proves once again he's a great actor. Good direction and cinematography. An interesting story. However, some of what are supposed to be incredibly tense moments aren't so tense. B.

Ginger Snaps II-Unleashed: Only watched to catelog the death scenes in it. Was more boring and slow than I remember. Odd.

Nashville (1975) - Robert Altman is brilliant. Great acting, great music, great direction. What's not to love? A
Oklahoma (1999) - A London Theatre production featuring Hugh Jackman as Curly. And damn, Wolverine can sing! A

The Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner-This was the funniest thing I've seen all year. Definitely one of the top 5 Roasts they've done. George Takei (Ta-kei, not Tah-kai lol) was the undisputed highlight, nearly outgrossing everyone else out with his "gay" jokes. The one about comparing Shatner's acting to his lover was the ultimate one of the night. He also got a glorious quipe about Farrah Fawcett that had me in stitches. Betty White was also great, being the only one (other than Fawcett) who didn't have something in their performance bleeped out. Still, it proved three things to me:
1. Farrah Fawcett is still better looking than 90% of Hollywood.
2. Artie Lang is at his best when he's feeling some woman up.
3. Andy Dick is in desperate need of being put down for his own benefit. How he still is invited to these things is beyond me.
All in all, still one of the best ones around. Hard to decide which one was funnier: this one or Hugh Hefner's. (It was premiered on Sunday, but got a tape from a friend who taped it so I could see it)

House of Wax and Dario Argento's Opera-I liked the reviews enough that I thought I'd share them with you.

The Mosquito Coast - A very good drama, and one of Harrison Ford's strongest performances.

Godspell (1973)
If I hadn't seen From Justin to Kelly (I wish I hadn't), this would be the worst movie musical I had ever seen. It was terrible. It was a musical adaptation of the Gospel according to Matthew. Let me tell you, this makes the Da Vinci Code look like The Passion of the Christ. If an Atheist with an agenda directed a highly offensive movie about Christ, that would not be more offensive than this movie. Christ did not die for our sins so he could be portrayed as a Reading Rainbow character with an unsightly afro and facepaint. And as a musical, it makes Cats look like Oklahoma. I'd rather listen to Memory all day than watch this movie again.
If the musical on stage was good, then this filmmaker really fucked it up. F.
EDIT: Hold on, I have more to say. If you want some idea of what Hell is like, watch this movie.
Ok, I'm done.

Tomorrow is Today--indie film festival fare. It's good but not absolutley spectacular. I mean..."Little Miss Sunshine" is still the best movie of the year. The ending goes on a bit too long. And the film broke down in the middle. Pretty good however. B.

Invincible - A very good football movie with an awesome ending... Although the premise will give you a sense of deja vu. B

Shakespeare in Love--decent performances, except from the overrated Judi Dench. Kind of predicatable but still lovely. B.
Gladiator--I don't know if I like this film or not. I mean, I think Ridley Scott is a piss-poor director who has made a few good movies--but overall I'm not WITH his entire filmography (Black Hawk Down, 1492, Kingdom of Heaven, Hannibal). But I guess this is among his better films (along with Alien and Matchstick Men). I'll give it a B- for the time being. The editing is horrific for one thing, that like, double-shot effect is overused. The plot's trying to be something more than it actually is, adding to a running time that should be trimmed a bit. Still...B-.
