Cephalectomy-Eclising the Dawn Cephalectomy-An Epitaph to Tranquility
Both albums made avaliable for free download on the band's website, Houde-era Kataklysm worship with a hint of Death/Grind thrown in for a little added extremity. Promising stuff.

Destroyer666: Defiance (the new one) which came with a sticker. (Thrash-Death Metal originally from Australia, now centered in Holland, as I recall.)
And two hard-to-find, out-of-print rarities:
Desultory: Into Eternity (Doom-Death Metal from Sweden) and Atomizer: The Only Weapon of Choice: 13 Odes to Power, Decimation and Conquest (Blackened Thrash Metal from Australia)
Atomizer comes with the extremely kick-ass song, When I Die, I Wanna Die Violently.

Atomizer is a great choice, I liked their previous one before that album, but I can't remember it off-hand. Black-Thrash of the highest caliber.
And I think Destroyer666 is in The Netherlands, not Holland. Though that one is definitely going on my best-of for Black Metal at the end of the year.

Oh, yeah, Netherlands sounds right. But I wouldn't consider D666's Defiance to be the best Black Metal album of the year. They've always been more Thrashy-Death Metal, and Defiance is pretty much full-on Death Metal, largely in the vein of Phoenix Rising. It's not as instantly catchy as the previous two albums, but it's still pretty good.
Some songs, like Stand Defiant and Sermon to the Dead come off almost like Hypocrisy songs.

Finally!
My CD's from Amazon showed up!
Mantic Ritual's Executioner & Megadeth's new one: Endgame.
Both awesome so far.
Fans of early-80's era Slayer and Metallica will feel right at home with Mantic Ritual. Hard to believe these guys are 18-year-olds and this is their first album, released in 2009.

A few new arrivals:
Atomizer: The Death of Forever (re-vamp of first album, The End of Forever with two bonus demo tracks) Blackened-Thrash Metal from Australia. More black than thrash on this one.
Summoning: Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame. Epic/Atmospheric Black Metal from Norway (I think).
Good stuff.

Summoning's from Austria, Q. I have that one as well as Dol Guldur and the Nightshade Forest EP from them. Decent stuff, but I'm not that into the Atmospheric side all that much. It tends to get a little repetitive at times, especially when they go over ten minutes. Very few Atmospheric Black Metal bands have done that.

KISS - SONIC BOOM Also picked up the remastered versions of DESTROYER and ROCK AND ROLL OVER. Already have the original releases, but for $7 and $5 respectively, this was a no-brainer.

Kupczyk is one of Poland's most famous metal singers - let me know what you think of his CD! And this Death Angel album is a great one, in my opinion.
I bought Whitesnake's Come An' Get It (reissue with bonus tracks) and Alice Cooper's Pretties For You recently. Gotta love these old dogs!

I heard it, and it wasn't that bad, it was pretty good actually. I liked his longer songs a bit more, especially tracks 4 and 9 which I thought were the best ones, but overall I liked it.
So, that's actually one guy's solo project, right? I thought it was a full band effort, but overall I'd have to say it was a really good album.
I'm not high on Death Angel at all, I think they're riffs are way too chaotic and they sound like they're rehearsal efforts and not proper songs. It's just too off-the-wall and uncontrolled for my liking, I like my thrash to be tighter and more structured than their works, though they do have some good songs from time to time.

So, that's actually one guy's solo project, right? Actually, Kupczyk recorded the album with his band CETI, but the management decided that it would be better to release it under the singer's name. If you look hard, you'll see the CETI logo behind Kupczyk's name on the cover. Anyway, this is supposed to be one of his best efforts after leaving Turbo which is a metal legend here in Poland.

I knew that guy's name was familiar but I could never place it until you said that, so I went and looked at the one Turbo CD I have, Last Warrior, and sure enough his name is there. I never thought to check until you said that.

Ah, so you do have "Last Warrior", nice. A pretty good album, in my opinion, but their best would probably be "Kawaleria szatana", "Tozsamosc" and the latest one, "Straznik swiatla" (recorded without Kupczyk).
