As an increasingly more avid Beatles fan, I've decided that I should get rid of my ripped copies of their brilliant works and get the real issues. I'm doing the same with the Deep Purple albums. If you truly love a band - gotta have the original stuff!

Killer Queen: A Tribute to Queen
BEST SONG: "Who Wants to Live Forever," by Breaking Benjamin
WORST SONG: "Bohemian Rhapsody," by The Flaming Lips (don't worry, there's another one sung by Constantine from "American Idol" that's amazing)

Naah... just kidding. Rotting Christ and Dying Fetus? Really? Is that really hard to believe? Rotting Christ is a Gothic Black Metal band from Greece and Dying Fetus are a Death/Grind Metal band from somewhere State-side. (Or Brutal Death or just plain old Death Metal depending on who you ask--Metal genres are sometimes iffy things) I haven't had money to buy CD's in ages so now I'm kinda goin' nuts buying up whatever I can. ... or see. I'm thinking that this weekend I may get Destroyer 666, Gorgoroth, Crematory, or that last Kreator album. And whatever looks good in Cheapo's used bin. None of the bands I just listed are American. Say Bart, which do you think I should pick up? (I bet he says Kreator)

No, it's not really hard to believe at all. I just find the names of some of these bands hilarious. I can just see them sitting around their basements trying to come up with the sickest, foulest, most depraved names they can possibly come up with to try to shock suburban America. Drummer: "Hey guys, what do you think of Dog Shit Smeared on a Dead Baby?" Bass Player: "It's good, but it's a little long, don't ya think?" Lead Singer: "Hmm... Dying Fetus?" Guitarist: "Now, that's got a nice ring to it!!"

OK, so I listened to a song or two by Crematory as well, but never got to like them all that much. And, you know, maybe you should try and dig deeper in the bin - don't they have a Lordi album there? What a band!

Don't believe I've ever heard of Lordi. What do they sound like?

Don't believe I've ever heard of Lordi. What do they sound like? This is how the leader of the band LOOKS like: The rest of the band, too, is suitably GWAR-ish. But the music! What a great mixture of Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper and some such! Their "Devil Is A Loser" was a hit here and there and they have already two studio albums out: "Getting Heavy" and "Monsterican Dream". Sweet!

Looks like the bastard child of Rob Zombie and Gene Simmons. He may as well be it! And yes - you can find some Kissy melodies in Lordi music, too.
