Seventh Moon- On their honeymoon in China, newlyweds become stranded in a remote village while the locals are celebrating Hungry Ghost Month to honor their deceased relatives, and find themselves as the prized sacrifices intended for the ghosts. Good grief, was this a disappointment. Frankly, from the amount of action, suspense and absolutely creepy encounters in this, this one here deserved at least a 9, maybe a 9.5, yet the sheer fact of the most irritating, aggravating style of shaky-camera style footage used to film everything runs it all the way down to a 4. That's how bad it gets in here, and utterly, utterly destroys all the good will assembled beforehand.
Fear House-Arriving at an isolated mansion, a group of friends trying to rescue their friend who came out earlier to work on a novel finds that the local myth about it being haunted is indeed true, and they must find a way to get out before succumbing to their darkest fears come to life. Actually not that bad, it gets pretty good during it's main running time and definitely has some good moments to it. The house is fantastic, the setting is quite good and the ghosts are active, enabling a lot of good encounters. Some are lazy, uninspired and quite stupid, and there's a severe lack of logic behind it, but there's a lot worse out there.

They Come Back-A psychologist is called upon to help a young child who is being tormented by strange supernatural incidents, and finds that they are using her as a vessel to help right a wrong from years ago. Rather simplistic and overly tame Lifetime entry, with the usual comments about the style: way too much time spent away from the hauntings on making sure the female star has something of substance to do, and very, very tame hauntings, when they do occur, that are supposed to make it feel suspenseful and creepy. Sure, it changes every now and then, but more often than not the above is the case.

She Creature-After stealing a live mermaid from a crazy old man, a carnival barker and his crew come under its deadly attacks as they transport the creature over the seas as they start up a new touring cycle. Not a whole lot to say, got it uncensored finally and after just getting a bit more violence and a lot more nudity, this one should’ve been a lot better but strangely, I liked it more when I first remember seeing it years ago censored, which is quite strange. Either way, nice to have it in the collection.

The Haunting of Molly Hartley-As her 18th birthday draws near, a teen finds the increasingly malevolent voices and hallucinations she's experiencing are warning signs of the impending union with Satanic forces her parents unwillingly entered her into, and she tries to fight them off before they take control of her. Not a whole lot to say, because not a whole lot happened. Had some decent scenes, but the PG-13 rating, lack of explanation for anything and a pretty crappy twist all pretty much doom this one.
Zombieland-Surviving a zombie apocalypse, a group of rag-tag heroes try to survive in the world where the dead are constantly growing in numbers and try not to kill each other before the zombies do. Don't really know what to say, it was good but I wasn't head over heals for it. The long stretches without the zombies in the middle when the two girls keep playing mind-games with the guys got to me more than I figured it would, although the action and gore were enough for me to say I enjoyed it. Just needed a more cohesive pacing.
Andre the Butcher-Stranded in a remote wooded area, a group of cheerleaders and their prison-escapee kidnappers are forced to deal with a supernaturally-powered butcher intent on killing them all one-by-one. Far better than expected low-budget slasher, with the main flaws coming from the obvious look of it's low-budget instincts and not a whole lot else, for it has a great body count, some decent stalking scenes, a bit of action and even a lesbian subplot thrown in for good measure. Not a whole lot of complaints.
100 Feet-Placed under house arrest, a woman finds that her violent and abusive husband is still haunting the apartment and is intent on finishing what he started with his treatment of her. Holy crap, was this one pure awesome. Quite simply the best ghost movie ever made, nothing is gonna top this one. Imaginative, inventive scares, tons of suspense, brutality, action, creepiness, this one had it all, and nothing at all, not one thing, I would call a flaw. Get this one immediately.

Sheltered-After an approaching storm strands them in a small town, a group of friends take shelter in a stranger's large mansion, unaware that he is a demented serial killer and is trying not to start another rampage. Seemingly, this movie doesn't exist since I can't find it anywhere, but it probably should've. No action at all until the final ten minutes when the guy goes crazy and starts the rampage, and since that's where all the blood and gore is, the rest has nothing of value. It is somewhat atmospheric, but that's no excuse. Not worthwhile.

Killer Pad-Arriving in Los Angeles, a group of losers hold a special housewarming bash to celebrate their independence, but a series of misfortunes before and during the event eventually makes them realize that the Devil is using the location to harvest sinful souls to rot in Hell, and they must try to stop it while keeping everyone safe. Quite possibly the hugest disappointment I’ve ever seen, as this one could’ve been one of my favorite films but instead is a massive disappointment due to the inherent stupidity and moronic behavior exhibited through its lame and utterly beyond ridiculous attempts to be funny. It was neither and it was just plain pitiful.
Circus of Horrors-When a German plastic surgeon escapes custody in Britain, he flees to France and becomes head of a traveling circus, operating on the women there to make them suitable for the show only to have each of them befallen with horrible accidents when they try to escape the circus life. Pretty decent early slasher prototype, handled nicely by the few shock attempts when a stunt goes wrong and they try admirably to play them off as genuine accidents, but the film doesn’t really feel cohesive enough due to the fact that it’s obvious who’s doing what and it conflicts tremendously with the other efforts around the film. It could’ve been better, but it’s just decent.

Devil’s Den-When a man goes into a strip club looking to find a way to make quick money, he stumbles upon a secret society of bloodthirsty ghouls using the club as cover for their activities, and teams up with two hired guns trying to bring them down in order to eradicate the creatures. Yeah, it's a "From Dusk till Dawn" rip-off, but it's not vampires but rather ghouls, a lack of Selma Hayek and Quintin Tarrantino so it's got a little bit I like and a little bit I don't. More of an action movie with a horror-film villain, so it distracted me even more despite the rip-off, and it's got enough to make it worthwhile.
Dark Rising-After going on a camping trip to reconcile a broken relationship, a group of friends accidentally release a murderous creature from another dimension and a female warrior intent on bringing the creature's rampage to a stop. A lot better than it should've been, even though it is pretty stupid and lame at times. The comedy here just doesn't work all that much, the plot is insanely confusing and it doesn't explain all that much, but when it's focused on it's more sleazier aspects, this one is pretty good. With a lot of kills, some tense moments here and there and some nudity thrown in, it's not all that bad. Just have to fix the comedy.
Cemetery of Terror-When a group of friends partying at a remote house accidentally revive the corpse of a mass murderer, they are suddenly afflicted by the madman's bloody rampage as well as a host of the living dead resurrected from the cemetery next door. I do have to mention first-off I saw this one on Spanish television so I have no clue at all about most of the plot details and such, but based on the actions taken I got a good idea of what happened, more or less. A film of two parts, both of which are just awesome and beyond what I was expecting. The first half is a great mid-80s slasher set-up, and it had a ton of good stuff. Creepy set-pieces, great stalking scenes, loads upon loads of atmosphere and brutal, gory deaths all grouped together, and with an expert pace, it kept the attention going nicely and never really dulled down. Then, the second half is a zombie rampage, and that features some of the finest work I've seen in the genre. I could go on with this one for a long time, it was that good.
Voodoo Woman-A team of explorers looking for gold in a remote African village stumble upon a mad doctor working with the natives to create a race of people using black magic to rule the world, and that the first test subject is stalking them in the jungle along their journey. A cheapo quickie from the 50s, some good stuff and some bad, mostly the fact that this thing barely runs an hour long and a lot of that is taken up by the group's journey into the jungle, but I've definitely seen others from the time that were a lot duller.

Stephen King's The Tommyknockers-When the residents of a small Maine town begin to act in weird, strange ways, a man and his ex-wife discover it to be caused by a strange series of objects discovered in the woods and try to rescue the townspeople before they fall completely under its spell. Way, way too overlong for it's own good, features way too many aspects that come from having a film of that length and girth, and rarely did it ever really feel threatening although it did pick up slightly in the second half due to the force driving them to these strange actions actually showing up, but it was too little, too late here.

Orphan-When a family adopts a young woman from an orphanage, the series of freaky events around her forces them to accept that her extreme behavior is hiding a secret that none of them were prepared for, and they must stop her rampage before it gets out of hand. A really, really disappointing effort, way too long for it's own good, features way too much that wasn't all that entertaining and didn't really do a whole lot to make me feel entertained. It did have a few good parts, but not enough to make me say this was a good movie. Too thrillerish, too dull, not enough good stuff.

Plague Town-While traveling in Ireland hoping to reconnect with their roots, a family stumbles across a strange village populated by the murderous mutated offspring of inbred families and must survive the night in order to get away. Not all that bad, this one turned out pretty good and had some good stuff to it. It was a lot more atmospheric than expected, featured some nifty gore scenes and was quite brutal in tone and execution, although this one mostly seemed to wander around aimlessly from time-to-time focusing on ideas which, while clever, didn't really make this one frightening. A lot better than expected.
Red Sands-A US Army platoon in Iraq accidentally free a murderous desert spirit who begins a rampage of destruction against them as they wait at a deserted outpost for their lost duties to come in. A rather boring and really uninteresting effort, features way too few scenes of any real value (although those were actually quite good) but hampered by lame War movie stalling, terrible camera choices and a complete lack of fear in the creature. Not a total waste but pretty close to one.

Frost Giant-While searching for a long-lost ship in the Antarctica, a scientist and his research team stumble upon a giant creature made of ice that is responsible for his missing ship's fate, and they must find a way of stopping the creature. Not that bad of a film, some good action scenes and some nifty kills, although I just didn't care as much as I usually do about these kinds of films. The creature here is an utter joke, no backstory and some rather lame deductive reasonings thrown about, a complete lack of gore and the usual Sci-Fi Channel complaints all apply here as well.
Sasquatch Mountain-After taking a woman hostage, a group of thieves find their mountain hideout is near the home of an enraged legendary creature that soon begins to hunt them down one-by-one, and when a group of hunters arrive looking for it, they team up to get away. Admittedly better than it should've been, due to some really good suspenseful stalking scenes and a rousing second half, complete with great kills, a fantastic monster and some really good confrontations with the creature, only really harmed by a mysterious decision to film nearly everything in a faded-camera style so that everything is slightly drained of life and it looks a little unsettling and off-putting.
The Signal-When a mysterious TV broadcast signal suddenly starts making the viewers go into psychotic violent rampages, a group of survivors try to find a way of stopping both the broadcast from turning more into blood-crazed killers and the source of the signal. Absolute utter dreck, absolutely nothing of value here. Lame story, no scares, terrible action scenes edited so badly you can't see anything, just a bunch of hum-drum kills with a bit more blood-splatter than you're used to seeing. One of the worst horror films I've ever seen.

Eight Legged Freaks-A man returns to a small mining town in Arizona and finds that it's being overrun by gigantic mutated spiders and must band the town's survivors together to ward off the approaching creatures. Good old glorious creature-feature fun, done with an old-school spirit and a lot of cheese, some of it good and some of it not so much. A couple of minor flaws, a lot of action, it makes for a fun time, even though it does need work in a few areas.

War of the Planets-A space station crew heads up to find out the cause of a series of radio disturbances, and finds the cause to be a radioactive alien mist slowing trying to take over the entire galaxy. Gloriously, utterly cheesy Italian space opera, clearly modeled after the Japanese efforts produced slightly earlier in terms of special effects and such, but just not as gripping due to a distinct lack of action. There's no big confrontations at all, no space-fights, no aerial combats, hardly anything at all in here, and due to the just beyond cheesy look to it, tends to get rather dull in spots, but it's still quite enjoyable if you're in the mood for it.

Mirrors-A security working in a fire-demolished department store finds that the ghostly visions and hallucinations he sees in the mirrors are directing him to solve a decades old mystery and he races to unravel it before the spirits target his family. A fantastic, thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining ghost film that was pretty much everything I like in these kinds of films. Great gore, outstanding suspense, creepy goings-on, a good mystery and plenty of action, even though I did have some problems with the story and how it plays out. Other than that, this one was really good.
The Cursed-A man arrives in a small town and the residents are immediately thrust into a battle with a supernatural entity that is descended from a Satanic curse in his bloodline dating back centuries, forcing him into a deadly battle with the dangerous creature. A pretty decent entry, much more supernatural in tone than anything else which does present a few problems with this one, but it's still not that bad. A rousing mystery, some good suspense-filled stalking scenes and a decent enough mystery to unravel, which was well-rewarded by the final twist, but it still needed some work.
Severance-Members of a corporate team-building retreat in the forest come across a group of deranged hillsmen who don't take kindly to their being there and begin to kill them off, forcing the rag-tag group to work together to get out alive. Strangely, this one was marketed as a horror-comedy, and I have to say it wasn't that funny at all. In fact, remove one character completely and this could've easily been a straight-forward slasher with a few brief moments of levity to break up the tension, even though some of it was pretty funny. Just, as a fall-down funny horror-comedy, it wasn't all that great.
Heartstopper-While recovering in a small, remote hospital, a teen comes under the attack of a Satanically-revived serial killer who begins a bloody rampage across the staff and patients to get to her, and she must solve the secret of his obsession before more fall to his bloodlust. Not that bad of a slasher, certainly one that doesn't skimp on the blood and gore since this one manages to contain quite a bit more than figured for such an entry, and it does have some fairly solid stalking scenes that are quite thrilling. It just needed a more imposing killer who actually went after the victims instead of leaving them alone most of the time and more information since the reveal answers some questions but leaves a lot more unanswered, so it has that to deal with but it's still really entertaining.
