Is anyone going to watch it?
I have to record it due to a meeting but I'm excited.
Hey, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to start a new folder for TV?
But though the last season seemed to have split people, I found the whole thing fascinating and can't wait to see where they're going with it. And since JJ Abrams is done with "M:I3" he's actually contributing to the show again.

I'm recording it on my DVR, and holding off until after I finish season 2 on DVD. By the time I'm done, I should be only two episodes behind... if that.

****NO SPOILERS******
Just thought I would put that first. I enjoyed the season opener, although, like most episodes, the questions are never answered. Still, I was intrigued and still think it's the best show on TV right now. The acting is superb, the production value high (yea, as much as a movie Zap) and the story very well written.

Oh, I don't doubt that one bit.

The season opener's first two minutes were great. But I think it dragged on from there. Not a very good season opener.

I disagree.
The whole thing was captivating, now bringing up more questions of "Who are these people? Where did they get all this information?" Crazy stuff.
Oh, Phoenix, I don't think we're going to get many answers until the very last seasons. This show is like the new X-Files, with all the questions, with all the conspiracies. Let's just hope it doesn't end like the X-Files did...without answering ANYTHING.

Hey, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to start a new folder for TV? I was thinking about this, too. But we'd need people to take care of it. As for the first episode... I agree with frankenjohn: great opening, then dragging more and more. Though Kate wearing the dress did look okay...

I don't know...maybe it's just the people you watch it with. The guy I watched the show with was excited about everything and screaming and yelling and cursing and it was fun.

Well, I'm always watching Lost with my wife and our reactions are very much alike (though in many other cases we don't agree on the quality of films): we just LOVED the beginning of the first season, we both liked the beginning of the second one and were completely disappointed with this first episode of Season 3. Let's see what happens next here but... you know... right now my expectations are low.

I thought it was a pretty good season opener. Not fantastic, not bad, just pretty good. Having said that, the flashback at the very opening of the episode, seeing how The Others live and what they were doing at the time of the plane crash, was a jawdropper! Even when it's only pretty good, LOST is compelling television. Bart, on a related note, if we decide to have a TV section, I wouldn't mind being one of the moderators. IMHO, this season, with the premiers of such interesting series as JERICHO, SMITH, THE NINE and HEROES, has shown so far that televison, when it wants to, can be far more interesting, entertaining and just plain better, than what's playing at the local cineplex. Add to those aforementioned shows the continuing sagas of LOST, SMALLVILLE and THE SOPRANOS (when it comes back) and I don't think I've been this hooked into so many different television series at one time, since I was a kid.

I don't want to derail this thread, but did anyone else watch "The Nine?" I thought it was an excellent follow-up to Lost and was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the characters.

Yeah, Phoenix, if you read my above post where I list all the new shows that I've been watching lately, I mention THE NINE as one of them. And I agree, good stuff. You can definitely feel the LOST "effect" on this season's new shows. The use of flashbacks in THE NINE, the air of mystery surrounding JERICHO and HEROES. The bar has definitely been raised. I gave INVASION a try last season, but after about 5 episodes, I bailed. I just didn't care about the air of mystery in that one, and apparently, neither did much of America as it was cancelled. Speaking of cancelled, BLADE on the Spike channel has been "staked" after one season. Too bad, I liked that one in a guilty pleasure kinda way.

Not one of their best episodes, but still a very good season opener. Good thing Episode 2 is only two days away.
