I just saw this yesterday...
PLOT Doesn't have a plot, doesn't need one.
ACTING - 10/10 Delivering the comedic goods, a bunch of newcomers. These guys were great.
DIRECTION - 6/10 Kinda choppy, but considering its amateur director, I went easy on it.
SCREENWRITING - 10/10 I can't really explain this except, this was really, really, really, really, funny. Really.
VISUALS - 6/10 Not visually spectacular... It's more of an acquired taste, which is something I'm really not fond of.
MUSIC - 8/10 Nice selection.
THE SMITTY APPROVES (8/10)

This is a great flick! It's rare things become funnier AFTER you see a movie, but that is what it did for myself and my family. I saw a free screening about two months ago and thought - eh - it was okay. And then began the phonecalls to my dad where we said things to each other like "IDIOT" and " dang" and "Whatever I feel like doing!". Soon my 16 year old sister saw it and began with the comments. Then my step-mom. They are all obsessed. Then I started wearing my t-shirt that I got at the screening and people would just randomly come up to me and say "I LOVE THAT MOVIE." You def have to have a sense of humor and realize that the whole thing is like small funny skits. But it is so memorable. Probably one of my fav small movies of this year!
I saw it again and loved it so much more because I anticipated so many of the great funny lines and slapstick humor. Plus the goofy added scenes at the end! ;D

This is def a big hit! I'm glad, it's one of my favorite movies of the year. It cost 400,000 to make, and has grossed over 40 million. AND it's still playing in the theaters around here - if you haven't seen this - SEE IT.

Actually, all the theaters in my area have lost it... today... except for one theater that's not really in my area but relatively close, and that theater has had this movie since its release in May.
The theaters that are closer to where I live, the ones that just lost the movie today, have had the movie since early August. I'd consider this film the biggest indy phenomenon since Clerks, and I'd suggest each and every one of you, if it's playing anywhere near your area, go see it. It's a laugh riot, and will be remembered for the ages.

Wow I know I am a little behind but I have to say that I love this movie. I work for an unnamed corporate retailer and we sold out of the DVD on the first day. Lucky!

I think I'm one of the only people in the world that hated this movie. I saw it as a failed Wes Anderson-reference project.
I got the humor, I just didn't think it was all that funny (maybe one laughing moment, when he runs over the Tupperware, but that's about it).
To me , it was like we were automatically supposed to like Napolean because his name was in the title, but he didn't do anything that made me want to like him. And all the supporting characters were just kind of there...they really had no purpose.
I think what made me even angrier was that I was looking forward to this movie so much. Based off the indie buzz it was supposed to be really good, and I'm not usually let down by movies I'm really looking forwards to (The Incredibles, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Collateral...), but this just didn't work.
Grr...I could express my hatred of this movie for a lot longer, but I'm the only one in my group of friends that has to argue his case, so it's getting old.

LOL! I can totally understand where you're coming from Pulpmariachi. I can see easily how someone could hate this movie. And I have met many people who do!!!! I of course loved it for no exact reason I can pinpoint. And I didn't like Wes Anderson's latest venture...so what can I say? Differing opinions I guess.
;D ;D

I still look forward to seeing this. My expectations are not too high though being that its a Fox Searchlight film which they've been known for these;

I just watched the extras on the DVD...and if you LIKED the movie, the deleted scenes are pretty funny. There are also the MTV promos on there, which I originally really liked.
Only watch if you're a fan though! Cause otherwise you'll probably hate the movie more. ;D

Oh Moses... words can't express how much I hate this movie. Maybe I have no sense of humour, maybe I know nothing, but this is probably the worst comedy of all time. Comedies are supposed to make you laugh, right? I did not laugh once during this movie. I smirked at the milk pick-up line, and that's where it ends. Ye gads. If you like this movie, more power to you. I would rather be kicked in the balls while drinking hydrochloric acid than watch it again.

And now it came back to me -- Pulpmariachi hates the film, too, yeah. ;D

I would rather be kicked in the balls while drinking hydrochloric acid than watch it again. You really hate this flick or....no offense intended...... you like acids and pain ;D Anyway I love your comparison. It's great.
