The new X-Men 3 trailer is up, and you will need the latest version of quicktime (just came out and is a bitch to download because the latest itunes is also a required download) AND an IE browser: www.apple.com/trailers/fox/x3/Looks great! Angel! Beast! Phoenix! ;D Late edit: While I was very skeptical because of the director I just can't hate the X-Men and the look of the movie does appear to be the same.

Casting news:
Mei Melancon has joined the cast of the comic book-inspired sequel "X-Men 3" as the evil mutant assassin Psylocke. Melancon, who appeared in Brett Ratner's "Rush Hour 2," is reteaming with the helmer for the third installment of the superhero franchise from 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment says The Hollywood Reporter.
Word began leaking last week from the Vancouver set that the latest "X-Men" installment would introduce the character Psylocke, who has had several incarnations in the Marvel comic book series and is best known for her fighting and telepathic skills as well as an ability to transport herself and others through shadows.
In the film, she will fight against the X-Men as a member of Magneto's (Ian McKellen) Brotherhood of Mutants.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that James Cromwell will join Columbia Pictures' "Spider-Man 3" as Captain Stacy, the father of Bryce Dallas Howard's character Gwen Stacy.
Fans of the comic books know that Captain Stacy dies a heroic death as he saves a child during a battle between Spider-Man and another supervillain. Peter Parker love interest Gwen Stacy (Howard) ends up blaming Spider-Man for her father's death. It is unknown how Raimi plans to incorporate his character. "Spider-Man 3" begins shooting this month with Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church, and Topher Grace.

Supposedly, the villian in the new Spider-Man will be the long forgotton Sandman.
The dude made from sand. Kinda like Hydro-man from the Fox animated series from about 8 years back.
How do I know? He's apparently going to be in the Spider-Man 3 video game.

He's apparently going to be in the Spider-Man 3 video game. This has been confirmed for awhile, Sony even released this photo: I'm not sure it he will be THE villian in the movie though - Sandman has always been a kinda second rate kind of guy. Rumor is that Topher Grace may be Venom.

Goddamn!
That guy is like the spittin' image of Sandman!!
But, Topher Grace as Venom? What the fucking hell?
Well, I guess, if there's one director who can make some questionable choices and make them work, it's Sam Raimi.
I mean, I thought Willem Dafoe was a horrible choice for the Green Goblin, but look how amazing he did in the role.
Also, I thought Sam Raimi quashed rumors of Venom some time back saying that Venom would definetly not be in the movie this time. After all, Spidey has to be using the Venom suit first. Other rumors hold that Raimi would like to do six films. I would be all for that.

News on Marvel Comics movies in various stages of development:
Marvel Studios has been busy – the company has locked down a director for IRON MAN and attached various helmers and scribes to other developing projects.
First up is the exciting word that ELF and ZATHURA helmer Jon Favreau has been recruited to develop and direct IRON MAN. Yes, after years of languishing in development hell, being touted as a vehicle for Tom Cruise, it looks like it might finally be on the way to the screen. Arthur Marcum and Josh Holloway (the writers behind John Singleton’s upcoming CONVOY remake) are penning the script, which will chronicle the adventures of Tony Stark, a troubled billionaire who develops an armoured suit giving him the power of flight and repulsor rays. Favreau hopes to step behind the camera next year.
Then there’s ANT MAN, which is being handled by SHAUN OF THE DEAD’s Edgar Wright, who’s currently busy shooting HOT FUZZ. In between trying to wrangle Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in front of the camera, he’s scribbling the script for the story of Dr Hank Pym, a scientist who discovers a size-altering formula. His co-writer on the film is ADAM AND JOE’s Joe Cornish.
Further back the development path is CAPTAIN AMERICA, which is being written by ROAD TO PERDITION scribe David Self. The Cap was created during World War II as a Nazi-bashing hero. After his popularity dwindled in the ‘50s, he was brought back to work with The Avengers. And being frozen in time, he’ll work as a fish out of water, according to Self. "He's a Norman Rockwell character who is faced with today's America and is forced to look at his own past, things in the '40s that weren't necessarily what they were cracked up to be, and also how today's country may be different than it looks," is how Self describes him to The Hollywood Reporter.
Also at the early script stage is NICK FURY, the agent of S.H.I.E.L.D (Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law-Enforcement Division, trivia fans!) has a writer. Andrew Marlow, who penned AIR FORCE ONE and HOLLOW MAN, is hard at work.
Mark Protosevich, whose credits include the upcoming POSEIDON and the as-yet unmade I AM LEGEND script, will tackle the tale of THOR, the Norse thunder god turned super hero. "In the comics, the stories that appealed to me most were the features called Tales Of Asgard,” says Protosevich. "They were very much based on the traditional Norse myths and how the relationship between being like Thor and Loki and Thor and Odin, and how these beings manifested themselves. I don't want to give too much away, but I will say the movie will take place in the world of myth and legend but will not betray some of the thematic elements of the comics that made them so appealing, like the idea of a god growing to truly understand man."
While all of those films are covered by Marvel’s recent distribution deal with Paramount, there is one Universal entry: a sequel to THE HULK. X-MEN: THE LAST STAND writer Zak Penn is busy cranking it out for Universal.

Tom Cruise as Iron Man??? NO, NO, NOOO!! Seriously? Let's see: The character is a goodlooking billionaire playboy in his forties. Cruise is the right age, has the physical build and looks, and has proven he can carry an action picture. If they go with Tony Stark's (Iron Man's alter ego) alcoholism in the script, I'm sure he'll have no problem with the more dramatic parts either. You're right, he's all wrong for the role. Physically he's more right for Iron Man, than Michael Keaton was for Batman or Hugh Jackman is for Wolverine and they both owned those roles. I'll hold off on criticizing him in the part until I actually see the film.

I'll hold off on criticizing him in the part until I actually see the film. To add to that, the man may be insane, but he's an excellent actor. I'm gonna say that again, he's an EXCELLENT actor. Roles that prove it: Born on the Fourth of July, Magnolia, Collateral; and to a lesser extent, War of the Worlds and Jerry Maguire. That's why I think he's faking that Scientology crap, but that's an entirely different conversation... all together. But I believe Tom Cruise would be perfect for Iron Man. I'm more worried about Thor, being written by the writer of Poseidon. That screenplay killed the movie for me.
