A couple of short films I felt fans should see. They're both by a very creative guy named Sandy Collora. I would recommend watching BATMAN: DEAD END first, and then his newest film, WORLD'S FINEST. This guy is a genius and it makes you wonder why Warner Bros. doesn't put some money behind him and let him make a full length feature based on one of their properties. He obviously loves the source material. Can you imagine what he could do with a real budget? Sandy Collora's site: www.collorastudios.com/ Links: www.capedwonder.com/Collora.htm In a nutshell-- - Sandy Collora formally worked with Stan Winston and has since then founded his own studio - "Batman: Dead End" was shown at last year's San Diego Comic Convention - It was meant as a demonstration of what Collora & his team can do-- creatures, SFX, directing, lighting,... - It quickly made it to the Web - Collora's latest is "The World's Finest"; unlike 'Dead End', which is a short film, this one is shot as a trailer-- but that's all there is. Just a trailer, no actual movie. Enjoy. ;D I'm gonna go with THE CROW in this poll. One of the best comic adaptations I've ever seen as far as sticking to the source material. Brandon Lee was almost as perfect in this role as Chris Reeve was as Superman.

Batman: Dead End is alright. I'm not sure if it strikes me as a genius work but an interesting one it surely is. It was added to one Polish sci-fi magazine on a VCD recently.
I haven't yet voted in the poll: Hellboy and Spider-Man 2 are on my To See list and I think one of these will get the vote. I'm not a fan of Superman 2 or X-Men 2 or The Mask or From Hell. Sorry. The Crow and Men In Black were better but nothing mind shattering, either.

Well, I mean "genius" in the sense of what he can accomplish with limited funds. You gotta admit, it looks like he had at least the budget of something like AVP to work with. Imagine what he could do with a "real" movie budget. Make sure and check out WORLD'S FINEST too. Great stuff. Blasphemy! Just kidding. No need to apologize. Just wanted to throw out a variety of comic book /graphic novel based movies into this poll. But you're wrong about SUPERMAN II, X2 and THE CROW. ;D

No suprise, I voted for The Crow. Beautiful adaptation of the graphic novel. Like Heineken said it was faithful to the source material & the cinematography was dark & gorgeous. Also like Heineken said, Brandon was perfect as Eric & Michael Wincott was magnificent as Top Dollar...the whole cast was outstanding!

But you're wrong about SUPERMAN II, X2 and THE CROW. ;D ;D Yes, yes: I know that my opinion is "wrong"; after all, the movies were by no means failures. But as you know, I'm not a typical fan of comic books adapted for the screen, and even though the world was in awe over X2 I was quite annoyed with some of its set pieces, acting and seriousness. That's why I'm waiting to see the lighter (I hope!) Spider-Man 2 before I part with my vote.

Yeah, I realize you're not a "comic book kinda guy". It's strange that I'm not, in fact - when I was a teenager I loved reading comic books, but now I only stick to two or three series, none of them being a superhero comic.

I'm still waiting for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to make it on one of these polls.

It'll happen eventually. There's a lot of comic book based movies. Which ones do you read now, Bart? Outside of the various monthly STAR WARS comics published by Dark Horse Comics and the occasional Graphic Novel, I don't read any other comics anymore. Still have the majority of my childhood comics though. The most recent GN I read was "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" a few weeks ago. Much better than the movie, BTW. I'll be starting on Neil Gaiman's "SANDMAN" soon. Yes, I know these were all published a while ago. I was out of the comic book loop for years. What about the rest of you comic book readers? What titles do you read?

I picked the Crow in this one. Very dark and beautiful movie. I really liked it!
I don't care if Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles makes it onto one of these polls, but there is no way I could fathom Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Secret of the Ooze. Anything featuring a rapping Vanilla Ice has got to GO!

Which ones do you read now, Bart? I think Yans is one of the best sci-fi comic books and I can't stop buying the new volumes as soon as they come out. Same with Thorgal (which is a thrilling mix of adventure, horror and sci-fi) - I've been reading it since #1 and never got bored. Both of these are drawn by Polish artists and I'm not sure whether they are available in the States or Britain. I tried to read The Punisher, Superman and Spider-Man when they started coming out in Poland but in comparison to Yans or Thorgal they seemed to be lacking a lot. Recently I tried to read Hellboy and though it's not bad it didn't make me its slave either.

The WB's "Smallville" is set to introduce a number of familiar faces from comic book mythology when its new season begins. In addition to Erica Durance's previously announced multi-episode stint as Lois Lane, the series has found an actor to play the Flash.
As already revealed in some comic circles, Kyle Gallner ("The District") will play Bart Allen, alter ego of the speedy Flash in the episode "Run," airing in mid-October. Bart is described as a street kid who plays by his wits by The Hollywood Reporter. The character is currently only slated for a single episode.

I was the lone Spider-Man voter, but only because he has been my favorite character since I was about three years old. I thought the movie adaptation stayed true to the comic. As for fan films, I saw a really fun one at the Baltimore Comic Con two weeks ago. It was a Punisher film titled "First Round", and I thought it was neat. website for it: www.coreysosner.com
