Looks like Kev will be looking to Mr. Hackman for some inspiration...
Fresh from the news that Kevin Spacey has signed on the dotted line to play Lex Luthor in Bryan Singer’s “Superman” comes a couple of comments from John Doe himself to the lads at IESB.net regarding why he was chosen, and the approach he’s taking to the role:
Q: Last time we talked at the "Beyond The Sea" Junket you mentioned that Bryan Singer wanted you to be Superman's Nemesis but you had concerns about your schedule, now that you have been confirmed as Lex, how did you make it work? KS: You make it work, Bryan is a great friend of mine and of course he is also a great director. He has so much passion for this project. Even before any of the X-Men films he had a great story idea for Superman that he would mention from time to time to his close friends and know he will be able to see his ideas fulfilled. Besides we’re talking about Lex Luthor.
Q: Are you looking at any of the previous Superman films for inspiration for "Returns"? KS: You have to look at the work the Chris Reeve did on his films and of course the great work that Gene Hackman also did.

Thanks for the quotes LDG!
I have to think though that Spacey will make the part his own because he's such an awesome actor. I don't think he'll do it over the top either.
I have much faith in him. ;D

Here's the trailer for the new FANTASTIC FOUR movie: www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fantastic_four/Looks okay, but doesn't blow me away. Whaddya think? And what the hell is Dr. Doom doing as one of the astronauts that goes into space with the FF?? There were FOUR astronauts, not five! Guess this is how they're going to turn him into their nemesis. I'm looking forward to Jessica Alba's other comic book movie, SIN CITY, a lot more.

I'm looking forward to Jessica Alba's other comic book movie, SIN CITY, a lot more. I agree, it looked kinda cheesy. I will probably still see it though. As for Dr.Doom, I'll post his 'real' history, although I'm sure the movie will make it totally different, which always kind of bothers me. That's why so many comic movies suck! The don't follow the great original stories (like Elektra..yuck). History: Victor Von Doom was raised by gypsies in a small European county called Latveria. He lost both of his parents at a very young age. Swearing revenge, Victor began to increase both his scientific and mystical knowledge with such determination that he was given a full scholarship to Empire State University. It was at ESU that Victor met Reed Richards and Ben Grimm, and where he started his extradimensional research. Doom's vanity prevented him from adjusting the schematics to one of his experiments, and the end result was an explosion that scarred Victor for life. Expelled from school, Victor began to travel the world, eventually stumbling upon a village of Tibetan monks who trained him and crafted him a suit of body armor, complete with face plate. He soon returned to Latveria, overthrew the government and crowned himself King. Ruling with an iron fist, Doom began to turn the resources of his small nation to his plans of world domination.

That looked ok, but I've never read much of the comics so, I can't judge it by that. And I didn't realize until I watched the trailer that Julian McMahon was playing Dr. Doom. That gives me reason enough to see it even if it does suck!

Why wasn't Road to Perdition in the choices? It was a graphic novel before a film.
Hey Livingdeadgirl--watch Mythbusters, do yah??

Wonder Woman News: (from Newsarama)
Thursday’s Hollywood trades made official what has been rumored for months, Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel creator and Astonishing X-Men writer Joss Whedon will write and direct a big-screen, live-action Wonder Woman feature film for Warner Bros. with Joel Silver and Leonard Goldberg producing.
"Wonder Woman is the most iconic female heroine of our time, but in a way, no one has met her yet," Whedon said in a statement quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. "What I love most about icons is finding out what's behind them, exploring the price of their power. When Joel and I began discussing the character, I realized there is a woman behind the legend who is very fascinating, very uncompromising and in her own way almost vulnerable. She's someone who doesn't belong in this world, and since everyone I know feels that way about themselves, the character clicked for me."
"There's no one better than Joss to adapt the legendary Wonder Woman comic book character created in the 1940s into a dynamic feature film for 21st century audiences," Silver said in the statement. "Wonder Woman was the first great female superhero to emerge from comic books and later inspire millions of fans in her television incarnation, but unlike her counterparts Batman and Superman, this groundbreaking heroine has yet to be reinvented for the feature film arena."
Whedon is currently in post-production on the Universal feature Serenity, which he wrote and directed based on his short-lived Fox sci-fi series Firefly.
No start date was given for the Wonder Woman production.

I was just reading about that today & after finding out Whedon was directing I'm REALLY excited about the movie! Here's another little bit of info from Moviehole: Those keen on putting on the Wonder-Bra are said to include Charisma Carpenter, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michelle Rodriguez, with Jessica Biel and Kim Basinger, recently leaked as being on the studio wish-list.I wonder since Joss is directing if that will give a little edge to SMG or Charisma Carpenter? Here's a teaser image that was released recently
