Don't forget to actually vote in the poll, by clicking on one of the buttons. THE CROW was a great comic based movie. Somehow I totally overlooked it when creating this topic. I didn't try to differentiate between comics & graphic novels for this poll, so anything that is an illustrated story with word balloons, etc. counts.

Alex Proyas did an excellent job capturing the darkness & emotion of the novel. And whoever chose the music for the soundtrack...wow...perfect.

I read that they're doing another Crow movie starring Edward Furlong as The Crow/spirit....Edward Furlong?? Sorry, I just can't see him in it.

I haven't read the WW comics, I think the actress portraying her needs to be beautiful, sexy and athletic, and Catherine Zeta Jones fits the bill! She would make a way hot WW! Worst idea would be to cast Sandra Bullock (I heard a rumor about that once), she is just NOT Wonder Woman! I have nothing against Cathy but what do you think about Charlize Theron? I believe she would be even better. Going back to the question of Sandra Bullock I imagine she would fit perfectly but if I were the director she would play the part of that ordinary WW (something similar to Christopher Reeve' disguise when he wore glasses) living unnoticed among other ordinary people and suddenly when she changes into that extraordinary being wow pops up Charlize or Cathy

"And whoever chose the music for the soundtrack...wow...perfect." - livingdeadgirl Yup, I agree, I thought THE CROW had one of the better soundtracks made up of modern rock bands. The songs actually fit the movie. What a concept! So, anybody see THE PUNISHER yet? Is it the crapfest the critics are calling it?

Charlize? I hadn't thought of her. She's gorgeous, no doubt, but I always thought WW should be more ethnic looking. I think Charlize has very "soft" features and I pictured WW with more striking features. For the same reason, I wasn't thrilled with Jennifer Garner (as cute as she is) as Elektra. But then, I guess I would really have to see Charlize with dark hair before I totally write her off, cuz, she is way hot too!
Oh, and Sandra Bullock as Diana Prince - I like it. Yes, she could be a DP and then like you said, Catherine or Charlize as WW! Fantastic!

Saw THE PUNISHER today and whoooeee!! Bombs away!! Wow. SPOILERS!!The movie starts out pretty good with a lot of potential. It's all played pretty straight & serious and Thomas Jane & Travolta are both good, but at about the point where the assassin/El Mariachi guy shows up at the diner to play & sing to Castle and threaten him, the movie definitely took a sharp turn for the worse. The unintentional humor & cliches: A) "El Mariachi" is chasing Frank Castle in their cars and chases him over a bridge. When Castle's car lands on the other side he almost hits a girl who has run out into the middle of the road, wearing a soccer uniform and chasing after her ball. I turned to my buddy and said, "Jesus! Where's the fruit stand and the old lady pushing the shopping cart?" B) Travolta is informed that El Mariachi didn't make it, so he says, "Send in the Russian." At which point my buddy turns to me and says, "I wonder what instrument he plays." The Russian shows up at Castle's apartment and he's a complete sterotypical Russian cartoon. From the "ROCKY IV" Drago hairstyle to the red & white striped Russian sailor shirt. I don't care if this guy was in the comic. This should've been handled more realistically. C) Travolta throws his wife off a bridge and she lands on railroad tracks. 2 seconds later, here comes the train to finish her off. I swear to God, if Travolta's character had a mustache he would've been twirling it and laughing, "Muaaahaaahaaa!!!", Snidely Whiplash style. D) Lightning & thunder are timed to coincide with certain dramatic moments & dialogue. Folks, this was a cliche back in the 60's. Some "scratch your head" moments: A) How does Castle survive a point blank shot to the chest? He's The Punisher not Superman. B) Why are his dad's guns still sitting in the glass showcase after the police have boarded up and secured the crime scene? I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure they would've been removed. C) Why does he pretty much announce to the world that he's still alive after everyone believes him to be dead? What happened to the element of surprise? This guy was in the FBI, but now he can't keep a secret. D) Are Frank and his three neighbors the only ones who live in that building? Even though there are numerous fights, explosions, screams, yells, etc., no one else ever seems to come out to see what all the commotion is. E) Saint's right-hand man, his oldest & closest friend is gay. Saint doesn't know this, but his wife does? F) The Punisher works too hard, he's setting up fake hydrants, stealing cars, planting fake clues, taking photos, making disguised voice phone calls, not to mention planting all those car bombs so that when they explode, the view from the sky is that they're burning in the shape of a skull. Kewl!!! These schemes are just way too involved. The Punisher I grew up with was more of a kick ass now, ask questions later kinda guy. This movie made DAREDEVIL seem like a serious art film. 4/10

Glad SOMEBODY recognized the Crow. That was the greatest comic book movie ever. Other honorable mentions include X2, Spider-man and Batman (and Batman Returns). I also really enjoyed Daredevil, and feel it to be very underrated. But then maybe that's my tolerance speaking, tolerance built up from watching garbage like say, Batman and Robin. *Shudders*
Heineken: Sorry you felt that way, I very much enjoyed it. While I do think the whole exploding car thing was a LITTLE too much, I also think Thomas Jane made an EXCELLENT Frank Castle. And it's really not all that surprising that Mrs. Saint knew Howard's best friend was gay whilst her husband remained clueless. It's very possible that she saw him with his boyfriend, and he begged her (or persuaded her) not to tell Howard. I also think those weird guys and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos WERE after all the only ones living in that building. It does seem like a very small building. Once again, this could be my tolerance speaking, but I really enjoyed it. I'll have the review up on my website, as soon as I start posting reviews on it, but I gave it an 8/10.
And even if it's not that good, think about it this way: at least it's not Dolph Lundgren.

Saw THE PUNISHER today and whoooeee!! Bombs away!! Wow. Heh heh hehh... ;D But of course I'm rather sad to hear you didn't like it, Heineken. As for the stereotypes and cliches, though - I always thought most comic books are made of them, actually, especially the ones about superheroes... but yeah, probably it may annoy more in a movie - I know that every single cliche in Sam Raimi's Spiderman pissed the hell out of me. One more question guys: since you're so fond of either those comic books or comic book movies, how did you like Carradine's Superman Rules speech at the end of Kill Bill Vol. II?

"tolerance built up from watching garbage like say, Batman and Robin. *Shudders*"
Well, yeah, PUNISHER is better than BATMAN & ROBIN, but what isn't?
"And even if it's not that good, think about it this way: at least it's not Dolph Lundgren."
Seeing as how the Lungdren PUNISHER was horrible, It would be really sad if this one wasn't better than that one. It is.
An 8/10?? You do have a high tolerance. Well, glad you enjoyed it anyway. I thought even the action scenes were kind of routine and not especially well done. One scene that I thought stood out and was pretty entertaining was the popsicle/torture scene.
"how did you like Carradine's Superman Rules speech at the end of Kill Bill Vol. II?"
It was okay, Bart, but I didn't think it was anything special as many other people in the past have pointed out that Superman is the true identity and Clark Kent is actually the secret identity, and so on. When Bill said, "As you know, I'm a big comic book fan.", I thought, "You are? Where did that come from?". It seemed a little forced, to squeeze in a Tarantino "pop culture" reference, IMO. But, whatever. Still liked the movie a lot.

The 8/10 came out of what I felt was put into the film. The performers were impressive, and I thought the fight scenes were just plain cool. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's a scene involving a knife, a bad guy, and an upward stabbing motion.

Glad SOMEBODY recognized the Crow. That was the greatest comic book movie ever. . I agree. Although the sequels...not so much And I read Edward Furlong is doing the new one. I just can't see him in that role. Wow, I was thinking about going to see Punisher, but after Heineken's review I think I'll just wait til it hits the vid store...or catch it on satellite so I won't have to pay for it? ;D

Edward Furlong? I wasn't aware he was still alive, let alone acting.
