Ahhh: 'Ghost Story'! I read it several years ago when I was in Scotland during summer holidays: a thrilling book, a perfect place... one of my favourite 'reading memories'... Anyway... I'm currently reading V.S. Naipaul's 'Enigma Of Arrival', Paul Theroux's 'Sunrise With Seamonsters', Greg Bear's 'Rogue Planet', Elmore Leonard's 'Freaky Deaky'... damn my short attention span! Just can't focus on one thing only!!!

Just can't focus on one thing only!!! Hey, I'm not the only one who reads more than one book at a time! Right now I'm reading John Sandford's "Sudden Prey"...I love these series of books! Next will be The Gunslinger.

Hey, I'm not the only one who reads more than one book at a time! Me too! Recently I've read Airframe by Michael Chrichton and the Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card. But the latter book grabbed my attention completely. I just can't find proper words describing how excellent the book is. Well frankly speaking I had problems with getting any sleep. How to go to bed when such a marvellous book is still unread?

I'm a pretty fast reader, so whenever I answer this kind of questions, my answer changes in about a week or so.
Currently I'm reading "The Cipher", by Kathe Koja. The start was pretty slow, but after the first 20 pages or so, the pace really picks up. So far it's not as good as her latter novels "Skin" and "Kink", or as her story collection "Extremities", but I'm still liking it.
Of the books already mentioned, the only one I have read is "Ghost Story", which is one of the best horror books I've read. Peter Straub rules!

I'm reading 2 books right now. Sky Of Stone by Homer Hickam. It's his second follow-up to October Sky. I'm also reading Rebel Stand from the Star Wars: New Jedi Order series.

My dad has Bob Woodward's book about the GW Bush presidency and the War in Iraq (forget the name offhand) that I've been meaning to check out for awhile. ;D

I finished Michael Slade's 'Death's Door' (what a book!) and moved on to Stanislaw Lem's "Man From Mars", Orson Scott Card's "Speaker For The Dead" and Elmore Leonard's "Freaky Deaky".

Finished "The Cipher" and wasn't dissapointed. Great dark book, with a killer twist at the end.
Also finished, not necesarily in that order:
- "The virgin suicides", by Jeffrey Eugenides. Slightly better than the movie, but again, something seems to be missing. You can tell it was a first novel.
- "Tap, tap" by David Martin. Terrific thriller with supernatural teases, very underrated. It has two of the wildest serial killers I have seen in a while. Also, you can't go wrong with a hero named Roscoe Bird, can you?
- "La noche", by Francisco Tario. An excellent collection of short stories by a little known Mexican horror and fantasy writer.
- "Neon city blues", by Emiliano Gonzalez. An extremely weird novella by and ever lesser known Mexican horror author.
- "Secrets of the Code" and anthology containing thousands of essays about the themes in Dan Brown's "The da vinci code". In some cases, it's even more interesting than the slighly overrated bestseller.
Currently reading a collection of short stories by the french author Jean Ray.

Gotta get this Kathe Koja finally. And the Dan Brown bestsellers tempt me too, to be honest!

Good!
You should move on to the next one as soon as possible - it opens with a blast and never loses its grip on you!

Finished Stuart Woods' "Under The Lake" (which was "just" good) and started Kathe Koja's "Bad Brains" and Richard Laymon's 'Dreadful Tales'.

I'm finishing Bentley Little's "The Association" right now. Anyone here familiar with the author? His style reminds me of Stephen King and his wicked ideas of Richard Laymon. A thrilling read!
